My brand new 2019 Raptor overheated at 600 miles because the gasket ring on the hose was installed incorrectly at the Ford plant. Coolant leaked and and I had to tow back my truck to my Ford dealership. They fixed it pretty quickly and I was driving again after a few days. When I checked on the coolant levels to make sure there was no more leaking, I noticed that my Ford dealership refilled my coolant with orange instead of the original yellow that came stock. I brought back my Raptor to the dealership and they immediately recognized the mistake and started draining the orange coolant to put back the yellow. They said they would get back to me about my concerns about voiding my warranty and potentially destroying my brand new truck. I am no expert about Motor craft coolant and am hoping someone has some experience with this. What happens when you mix them? I know they did not flush the yellow out before adding orange. They just filled it with orange. This is breaking my heart, because I just got this truck after months and months of waiting to replace my 2018 Raptor that had a bad transmission. I had to Lemon Law my 2018 Raptor and then I replaced it with a special order 2019. Now I finally got my 2019 after months and this happens... Advise, knowledge should I be concerned? Anyone think I will have problems down the line? Ford voids your warranty if you do this and Motor craft says it can damage your engine, Radiator, Cooling of engine, water pump, Etc.... I am trying to figure the best way to handle this...

You'll be fine don't sweat it. If they flushed it and the gasket is fixed just drive it. Warranty should be fine.

Be sure they flush it with distilled water or fill and and drain at least 5 times , once they get all the old stuff out and refill with yellow you should be fine .

Whats the difference between the yellow and orange coolants? What is different in 2019's that makes them require the new yellow coolant? Or did Ford just switch to a cheaper supplier?

How van Ford ship a vehicle with a coolant leak due to a loose hose clamp?!!! Dont they do a final QA Check on each truck before shipping them?

Ford is really getting sloppy!

You must have missed my introduction post a while back. It may have actually been on the Gen 2 forum. Anyhow, I had the exact same problem as the OP. Except my coolant hose blew off on my drive home from delivery at 20 miles. Engine completely ran out of coolant. Dealer was cool though and gave me a new truck. Acted like the initial transaction never happened.

I asked the same question. They said it's impossible to tell if it was not installed correctly when the do the check, hence how it drove for 600 miles before it broke off. Said this happens from time to time and that the machine that installs sometime doesn't line up. That is what my Ford service rep said anyways.

They had two of the same truck at dealership? Any problems since? 2019?

Probably honest mistake on the dealers part because Ford just changed from orange to yellow coolant at the beginning of the year. Anyone know why? My 2019 Raptor (Nov-2018 build) has orange coolant from the factory.

Background: I was away from my truck and wanted to look something up so I downloaded the manuals from the Ford website. That’s when I noticed the recommendation for oil type and the coolant color changed in the Raptor supplement.

My 2019 came with raptor supplement first printing dated Sept 2018. There is now a second printing dated March 2019. First printing says synthetic blend motor oil and orange coolant. Second printing which I downloaded says full synthetic motor oil and yellow coolant.

Haven’t found out why through online searching. My truck goes in Thursday for transmission problems so I’ll have to ask.

I personally don't think there's anything to worry about. Same engine as years past that used the orange coolant.
