Fords business is selling products the market wants/desire. And what can be done to drive desire leading to sales.
FROM THERE THE REST IS UP TO THE MARKET.
AND WHAT CLOWN BUYS A RAPTOR OR ANY VEHICLE AS A VALUE PROPOSITION

Ford is a domestic car and will never hold value as non limited edition. I’ve owned a few exotics and they hold value pretty well as long as mileage is low. In fact because of low supply sometimes you could make money (around 10%) However even Ferrari has massively ramped up production for profits after going public and new cars now depreciate around 10%. The key in limited depreciation value a getting a bette deal off MSRP up front.

Actually, "the more a vehicle is discounted after you bought it, the more your vehicle depreciates."

The "more the vehicle is discounted" has nothing to do with its resale value or depreciation from its purchase price.

Only someone from California, or should I say homeless California, where liberals and shit heads live.

I would rather they build too many than not enough… There’s no way I’m paying even $1000 over MSRP

Yep did a little more research today to prove how bad Ford has destroyed the depreciation values on 2018 plus raptors due to over production and greed. 2019 Ford Raptor MSRP for $ 74,450.00 with 16,000 miles now has a KBB trade in value of $ 59,000.00, that's a drop in 12 months of $ 15,000.00. that's if you purchased the raptor on January 1, 2019. That equates to 20 percent depreciation in in 1 year ! In comparison to a toyota land cruiser MSRP at $ 85,000.00 and KBB trade value of $ 68,000.00, that's a drop of $ 18,000.00 in year 1 or 20.5 percent. Now the 2019 land cruiser can be bought brand new for $ 78,000.00, which actually leads to a loss of $ 10,000.00 or 13 percent. Not bad for the worlds most off road capable full size SUV. The 2019 raptor can probably be bought new for around $ 67,000 to $ 70,000.00 LOADED, which equates to a drop of $ 8000.00 to $ 11,000.00 or 13 percent, if you can buy one under MSRP, which ford dealers are now doing because FMC flooded the market with raptors that dealers can not sell. And the $ 100,000.00 LX 570 is at a 16 % drop in 1 year value, which is pretty damn good for a 1 year old vehicle in that price range.

It's really a shame because when the raptor first came out in 2017, GEN. 2, it held it's value extremely well, but now that is starting to even take a hit thanks to overproduction.

Still the GEN. 1 Raptor depreciates less and holds it's value better, again SVT vs. assembly line Ford performance.

Pretty sad when $ 85,000.00 to $ 100,000.00 SUV'S hold their value as good as a ford raptor at $ 74,450.00. To sum it up, my friends 2017 raptor that he paid $ 68,000.00 MSRP brought in $ 58,000.00 2 years later- 15 %. My 2019 at $ 74,450.00 1 year later is worth $ 59,000.00 - 20 percent. Nice job FMC.

FMC doesn’t care about resale value except to the extent it affects their ability to lease competitively due to residual values.

I never mentioned Prius. But I guess you don't know what a Landcruiser is.

I have a 2013 LX570 I bought new. Sticker was $91k back then, I paid $78k since the sales manager was a family friend. It’s worth like $40k or so 6 years later with 90k miles. It still drives new and I love it. It’s a tank.

So, the residual value is pretty good % wise but I’m eating almost $40k over 6 years. Not exactly cheap.

My 2019 Raptor is the same way. I’ll expect to lose tens of thousands over the next several years. That’s what happens when you buy $70k trucks and $90k SUV’s for the vast majority of models.

Hell, I have a 2018 GT3 I bought for sticker two years ago. I know the market has softened a bit on them, but many bought the Porsche GT cars thinking they could own it for free due to incredibly strong resale value. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. I don’t buy cars expecting to drive them for free. It’s nice when it works out that way, but it’s not often. I only lost $2k on my 2016 Porsche GT4. Got for MSRP (99k) drove a year and a half and put 7,800 miles on it including quite a bit of track time. Sold it for $97k. I was happy.

quikag - That's interesting info. Although based on your numbers, The LX 570 has only depreciated approximately $ 6500.00 to $ 7000.00 per year over 6 years, that is excellent. Your Raptor will not come close to that at this rate, thanks to saturating the market. Another interesting point you mentioned, 6 years later and 90,000 miles on the LX and it still drives like new. Time will tell with the raptor.
