Hi guys,

I recently purchased a used 2018 Raptor (25k miles). I noticed a clicking noise when idle and sometimes driving. Here is the video I recorded:

Is this something I should be worried about? I brought it in to Ford and they said it is a normal sound. They ran all the tests and said everything came back fine.

I've had an issue where the truck took 5-10 seconds to start up and that clicking noise seems louder. They told me it was a bad battery and replaced it for me. The truck sat at home for a full day, and when I turned it on, it took about 5 seconds (revving) to start. In most cases, the truck starts up fine and the clicking noise is very minimal (although I can hear it).

I don't always hear the clicking, and I think it may have something to do with the way it starts up? Has anyone had issues like this with their trucks?

Not good. This is the dreaded cam phaser rattle and most likely why it was traded in. Get it documented and addressed. There are no new design parts for this, so it will happen again. You can sell off, or trade back in.
