To all new push button start vehicles... always lock you vehicle when not in it. For more protection buy and use the club on the steering wheel...tech geeks can steal your code and start your vehicle, the club delays this and they most likely will go for another vehicle, than chance getting caught.

Sucks... not victim blaming by any means, but if I am going to leave my dogs in the truck for a moment with it running, I lock the doors using the keypad by hitting the bottom two buttons simultaneously. At least if you do this, they can't just walk up and open the door without having to break a window or jimmy the door in some manner. Without the key in the truck, they also wouldn't be able to put it in drive.

Okay... as both a dog and Raptor lover.. totally sucks... looks like the OP is not the owner, but thanks for sharing..

also... thanks to Obscure as I learned something new from this... I couldn't figure out how to lock my truck with it running and my dog inside.. with Gen2's I guess you hit the bottom two keypad buttons?? I just tried on my Gen 1 and I can hit my two highest keypad buttons "7-8" and "9-0" simultaneously and I can lock my doors with the key inside.. AWESOME... thanks for sharing.

The doggie getting kidnapped is the worst part. The truck has insurance, but you can't replace a family dog.I'm assuming the truck was not connected to FordPass otherwise the story would be much different.

Frankly, I'd be surprised if the pup doesn't turn up especially if he's chipped. Theres no good reason for the guy to keep the dog in the car. Really, one fart in the truck from the nervous dog and he's free.

I feel horrible for laughing but thats funny. I wouldn't care about my truck as long as I got my dog back.

I’ve got kids and I’ve got dogs. Love them all. Consequences for taking your dog should be every bit as serious as for kids. Really like my Raptor too
