I was in the same position as you when I purchased my 18. I wanted Leadfoot, and would have gone with the 19 if it was available. It made that much difference to me. Therefore I went with the 18.

Sam

Exact same thing with me last October 2018. Lead Foot made the difference to me.

I went look at the 2018 yesterday and I also drove the 2019. At first they did not want to honor the price on the 2018, but eventually they said they would. I can’t feel a huge difference in the 2018 versus the 2019, but I do like to 2019 seats a little more. I’ll pick one over the weekend and pick it up after work on Monday. Most likely it will be the 2018 leadfoot just because of saving the bottom line 6k, but the 2019 is making a case to be worth the extra money.

My thought process:

2018 benefits:
Leadfoot
Price
Wheels
No autonomous emergency braking
Can be had without some of the other tech pkg stuff that comes standard on the 2019 and which I didn't want.
If you get the stickers, I prefer the aesthetic of the 2018 stickers.

2019 benefits:
Shocks
Recaros available
More options in the gauge cluster
Current model year
Probably has other little improvements

Obviously, much of the above is personal preference. Given the above and the availability of the 2018s when I was ready to purchase (I bought around the MY crossover time), I went with a 2018.
I agree - the wheels on the 18s look better to me, especially after changing the chrome lugs out for black ones...

Another advantage of buying a 2018 is it will be a "lower mileage" vehicle (for its year).

I am just really a big fan of leadfoot. I should have just bought it yesterday, but I just couldn’t pull the trigger. It should work out okay though, the dealer can get it prepped during the day so when I go to pick it up it Monday it should be pretty quick. I do wish it had beadlocks, but there are plenty of people selling wheels on Craigslist etc where I can pick them up for about $1300 or so.

I have a lead foot and love the color!

I do wish I had the nicer seats, but not in blue! And the new active suspension is nice.

Do you offroad at all? Does the active suspension lean you towards a '19?

I went 2018 just for the color myself, I just ask to make sure you love your purchase because these trucks aren't cheap.

As for wheels, I sold my factory bead locks as soon as I got the truck.

My wife thinks I only have 3 guns

I don’t really off road with the exception of going out to our Ranch in south Texas, where really my king ranch FX4 did fine. All things being equal I would get the 19, but for the discount on the 18 and the fact that lead foot is my favorite color, I think the 18 is the right choice.

Given the price difference and your color preference to lead foot, I'd say the 2018 is the better option for you. Outside of the shocks, the 2019 "upgrades" are personal preference. Although, maybe ford would've run faster in the Baja 1000 back in 2016 if that raptor had the factory blue recaro seats (without harness or ability to run one), trail control and highlighted FORD applique.

You will always have in the back of your mind, should I have bought the 2019 vs 2018. At this date, you might as well wait a few more months and see what the 2020 model brings. Who knows they may bring back the Lead Foot.

Here she is. I just really loved the leadfoot. Getting 7k off plus about 1k over KBB trade in for the Explorer we traded seemed to be a good deal. The only things I want to do to her are add the MX4 bed cover and get the OEM beadlocks wheels. I found a take off set of wheels for $900 local. Where have you guys been taking your trucks to have the wheels installed and what is a ball park cost?
