Yesterday was a pretty awesome day for me as the truck was finally picked up from the dealership. Its now on its way across the entire country to my house.
I spent a lot of time on here reading and reviewing different shipping company recommendations. I ended up going with Montway Shipping. The process with them finding a shipper was honestly very easy. Even from outside the US, coordination with them was timely and they were accommodating to my situation. I’ve never shipped a vehicle before so I had a lot of questions and they were able to answer them all. We agreed to a certain price and they said they would find a driver within a week. Over the next week I was told several times that they found a driver to pick up my vehicle but they wanted $400 more, then $325, then $200, then $80 more to actually complete the order. Luckily for me time is not a factor so I just told them flat out that I won’t pay anything extra over the price they quoted me. They told me that if I didn’t agree to the price jump they won’t be able to find a driver, it can take weeks longer, it won’t get there on time, blah blah blah. After the last shakedown where they told me they would most likely cancel my order because the price was too low to ship my truck, I magically got an email 2 minutes after hanging up. It was an invoice with the exact price I was quoted to begin with and included confirmation from the actual shipping company. I wasn’t too pleased to see this kind of tactic used because had I been in a different situation, I would have been out an additional $400 thinking that i HAD to pay it to get my vehicle on time. I'm hoping that sharing this will give others a little insight into the process so they have a heads up when a shipping company tries to gouge them on price right before the vehicle is about to move. If i could have, i would have went with Uship based off the reviews ive seen.
