You would think that deployable running boards would be tucked up out of the way and not sticking out like permanent fixed running boards. I'm always seeing running boards beat up on off road trucks. I've had deployable ones on a few F 150s that I took offroading and never had an issue with them.

Do the new ones stick out too much?

@cups would disagree with your theory. While they look great when in the up position they don't work well in the muck.



The Moab must was thick and gooey and prevented the running boards from raising. It wasn't until later that night after a really good rinse did the running boards became operational again.

They work fine as long as you don't open the before having the truck cleaned. As soon as the door was opened, enough mud fell on to the mechanism to prevent them from retracting. They didn't fully retract until I got home and did a thorough cleaning.

That said, since we have determined that I hate mud and will not willing plan another mud trip, I really like the Amp steps. I'm really surprised that they don't get banged up. Suppose that if I did a lot of rock crawling, it'd be different.

But definetly no mud.

They help keep debris off the paint and if you step on the step a bit when you're getting out you can keep a lot of your weight off the edge of the seat when you get out which helps a ton with keeping the seats nice. Sliding out off the edge of the seat breaks down the foam and wears on the leather pretty good.

My 08 F250 Lariat had steps and the seats looked close to perfect after 70,000 miles where our newer F250 looked like ass after 20,000 from sliding in and out off the edge with no steps to use to kinda lift yourself out of the seat.

These are a tad more than just pretty running boards on the Raptors. They actually provide a level of protection from large rocks and such. Sure, they can and will break, but better that than destroying a rocker panel first. If and when you upgrade to a wider wheel, they will keep smaller rocks from destroying the paint.....

If I tried telling my 5'2" wife who will have to climb in and out of the new truck wearing a skirt every time we go someplace that she is either going to have to learn to climb like a monkey or carry a step-stool with her to get in and out, and I think we all know while I'll be installing the Amp Research PowerStep on day 1 of my trucks arrival <lol>. It may not be the desert-racer step of choice, but it will serve my purposes well enough.

Hey everyone, I need some quick help.

Have a dealer that will do MSRP on a 2017. They'll also toss in tinting the two front windows and the spray in liner.

MSRP is roughly $67,400. The sales manager made a statement yesterday that's really bugging me. "The dealership paid MSRP and there is no invoice price on Raptors."

It feels like such a lie as they did not buy the vehicle from another dealer or take allocation from elsewhere.

I've seen links to invoice info but I don't have access. How can I track down invoice pricing because I want to walk in and sit in front of this guy and let him lie directly to my face with the info right in front of him.

I guess it's principle.

Glad to hopefully be joining the Raptor club in the near future.
