Had contacted three dealers in VT area about 2017 Raptor in early June. Gateway Motors, West Lebanon, John C Stewart and Sons, Cuttingsville, Formula Ford, Rutland. Knowing that ordering would be in July timeframe. My understanding from Ford Press releases and general statements that the Raptor would be available to order from anyone who would want one. Requested all three dealers to contact me when order forms and pricing were available.
Did not here from any on 07/18 so I sent three follow up emails on 07/19 with my requested build out with the price list MSRP prices.
Gateway Motors responded on 07/20 with statement “We have 1 allocated with 7 people on list and our GM wants 5,000. Over MSRP” Told salesman that I would not pay over list and he said he wouldn’t either. Conversation left with since this is a want not a need we would connect back in DEC-JAN timeframe to see if situation has changed.
John C Stewart & Sons responded and stated “ We checked with our Rep and he did not come out exactly say it but indicated that since we had never sold one that essentially we had zero chance of getting one allocated” Conversation left with if things change they would get back to me but we would connect back in Dec-Jan timeframe.
Formula Ford responded and stated. “At this point we have allocation (and deposits) for TWO SVT Raptors. This fills our current allocation. We can apply for additional allocation one we have delivered the first of them. As I am sure you know these trucks are in limited supply. This is done because several dealers have previously ordered them as sold but in reality they were not sold yet. .” Email was rather curt without any indication of future contact. Note: when first contacted Formula ford Sales Person ( Dave Chapman) back in June his attitude was he was acting like he was doing me a favor by talking to me.

When making an expensive purchase I am not used nor will I tolerate that type of buying experience.

So at this point I would like to know Ford’s approach on sales of the 2017 Raptors. Are they on dealer allocation? Can they be ordered if a dealer does not have an allocation? If this is the case would the order be ever fulfilled?
Ford had indicated that these would not be on limited run. I have no issue with ordering and waiting, as long as reasonable time frame (12-14 weeks).
This experience is leaving a rather bad taste for Ford Sales approach and some of their dealer sales tactics.
Dealer preference based on dealings and proximity would be John Stewart and Sons in Cuttingsville, but as of now they have no allocation.

Looking forward to Ford response.

Having several car dealer clients, the domestic brands just arent held to the high standards( sales, service) as the imports. (germans etc.) My local Ford dealer (bought first Raptor from and was a client at the time) doesnt do a good job with customer service just like Jamin found out. They seem to want to sell 20K focus's as to big dollar products that by the way need customer service! My wifes Mercedes didnt cost as much as the new Raptor, I need top customer service before I buy!

The problem is Ford hasn't told anyone what is going to happen. We know more about these than the dealers or reps do. What everyone is assuming is dealers will get allocated a certain number for them to sell. If they submit sold orders, that wouldn't go against their dealer allocation. Those guys don't want to tell you they can get you one and not be able to. I have much more respect for guys like that than these guys saying the orders have been placed, give us your money.

Here's where it gets tricky...let's say you're one of these dealers taking all these orders. Let's say the trucks don't start getting orders until the end of the year and builds start in Jan. If you are the 10th or 20th order with this dealer and Ford doesn't pull it this year are you OK waiting until next year?

Wish we could keep one or a couple of these threads to know/proven facts, so we didn't need to spend 2 hrs sifting through 20 threads and hundreds of posts on dealer he said / she saids. I come on here for info, and to contribute what I can.... Mic drop, feel free to insert Cruz boo's ;)

Carbon fiber package at $995 - This is just orange tinted carbon fiber instead of the hard plastics on a few places in the truck... am I missing something?

I intially saw the autoshow pics with orange hue and was let down, but looks more like it was lighting in the show. I never noticed, but these initial prototype shots show the cf trim. While it does look pretty glossy, not as nice as say bmw cf matte trim, or even the new focus rs package, it is better than i initially thought. Although you dont get much based on pics below and secription... I see the strip on pass side dash below airbag, door handle areas x4, and storage nook... Don't see any cf near shifter that they describe. hoped the center stack area that's black would have gotten the cf treatment for the price of the package

I am just noticing the brushed metal trim, believe this was on previous platinums and like. I see in other pictures there is a solid black trim in the place of the cf spots, which isn't terrible and saves ya some loot.

You make a good point. If you plan on getting a SCAB with 802a your paying for the inflatable rear seat belts and heated rear seats but you're not getting them. Only problem I see with forgoing the 802a and adding stand alone options to the 801a is there is no option for cooled front seats with memory. But doing it your way you can save a few grand so it might be worth it to most people.

I was moreso pointing out, building up a fully loaded 801a is not worth it. Unless really trying to cut costs may as well just get the 802A.

Sorry guys, I should have just goggled it. That's a pretty amazing place nonetheless.
Carry on...
