2017 Engine Replacement

sorry, but not sure you know what you are talking about

I have a raptor, wife has LX570.

both have about same miles but hers is 2 year older. It has depreciated way MORE than my raptor according to kbb.

not to mention, the LX has been in the shop (including recalls) more than the raptor. Service visits are much more expensive too.

I personally don’t even like driving it. Even in sport mode, it’s numb and floaty. But to each his own.

past about 1997, Cruisers went from utilitarian tough trucks to tarted up glorified soccer mom wagons.

sadly, I feel like Mercedes with the gwagen was the last to succumb to the trend. I was shocked that they resisted that much longer than any other MFG.

Interesting that you have to call Ford about extending the loaner.

While Ford was looking over an engine issue on my 3.5TT Explorer, I was given a loaner for around a month. An engineer/tech from Ford supposedly came out too at one time.

Never had to call FMC or anything to keep it past a certain date.
Aren't loaners more on the will of the dealer and not FMC?

Ended up being warranty work which involved the replacement of a head.


Shit happens. More than likely you'll be fine post new engine. If not, you still have the 5yr 60k warranty for powertrain

Most dealers got hammered for the last 18 months due to all the recalls. at this point, a longer-term loaner is funded by the dealership, and not necessarily ford. his dealership may be insisting that they are compensated by ford for the loaner, and thus it might require corporate approval every so often since they're paying for it.

Most dealers got hammered for the last 18 months due to all the recalls. at this point, a longer-term loaner is funded by the dealership, and not necessarily ford. his dealership may be insisting that they are compensated by ford for the loaner, and thus it might require corporate approval every so often since they're paying for it.

This is probably a spot on assessment on why I needed FoMoCo approval for the loaner. I received word that I'm good to go with the loaner. SA also indicated it's a long block replacement but the block is backordered. "Hopefully we aren't talking months until this is resolved."

I have not been contacted by FoMoCo, call back on my case is overdue at this point. Let's wait and see how things play out once I do get in touch with someone in the next day or two. Given the mods & dollars I have in the truck, I think I have an idea on how I'd like to see this playout.

All the loaner/courtesy vehicles I've had, came directly from the dealership(s).

Correct....larger dealers use this as an incentive to buy your Ford from them. "Buy from us, service with us, and we have complementary loaners." The smaller dealers can't afford to do this.

In my case, I usually buy from the large dealers farther from my home because they have inventory to choose from, but I get service done from smaller dealers close to my home.

I have extra cars so a loaner is not required.

Unfortunately, shot does happen. It's inevitable. The ones who keep their cool throughout the process, typically prevail.

I'd strongly suggest that while you are coming to an agreement on thresholds and expectations, wait to post "what's going to happen" until you actually come to said agreement. Ford does monitor pretty much all performance enthusiast brand-related message boards. I'd hate to see your satiation impeded by something as immaterial as the commentary from strangers on the internet.
