I have a 6 plus and have not issues so far with any cable I use - I have both generic and apple brand lightning cables. I do have an issue with my home PC - every time I plug anything USB into one of the front plugs it shuts down the computer. It sounds like it is similar to what you are having happen.
I think Jimbo may be correct - sounds like something has shorted out or ground is screwed up for the USB ports in your console. DEFINITELY covered by warranty though so there is at least that...just a pain in the rear to have to go to dealer.
