I went through this exact same decision within the last few weeks.

The GMC is more practical, if you want to be practical.

But for the same amount of money you can separate yourself from the crowd of other vehicles on the road. How many times do you look over at a passing GMC? How many times do you look over at a passing Raptor?

I could not accept myself supporting a company controlled by this govt.

FORD = only truck based within the USA not building trucks using taxpayer dollars.

You want practicality as in a couple more mpg then then GMC is for you. If you accept that its only gas and that the fun factor of how it will lift your ego and make you feel when driving the raptor then go spend some time sitting in the raptor.

When you park your truck and walk away, if you don't look back at it, then you know you picked the wrong one.

Not true, Ford is taking as much tax dollars as they can get from the government just like the other two, only difference is they are being more sneaky and did not file for bankruptcy.

I have a 18 ft skeeter fish/ski 150 vmax , I have hauled it cross state several times, can NOT tell it is behind the Raptor ( 13 screw), plus a trailer rated for 3,500 lbs, which I have exceeded that limit by an easy 1,200 lbs. same as the boat can not tell its back there.I drive a lot on the interstate, handles like a high performance town car , lol if you can imagine such a thing. aside from the ride on the interstate the one thing that sticks out is if you drive the Raptor like its a HP sports car it handles like a HP sports car, imo , the denali isn't bad looking but it looks like an attempt at something where as the Raptor looks like an accomplishment,,,!

You didn't mentioned it but if resale value is of any importance, I would say the Raptor is going do a lot better than that GMC over the years.

I forgot to mention this, this is a huge concern to me and I think with how much GMC is pushing these new sierra 1500s out, even if I get the Denali I will still see so many other base trucks running around and I feel it will in turn lower the resale value, There is no real base model of the raptor, the raptor is the raptor, and as the dealerships were saying they only get 1 or 2 raptors to sell, that in turn makes it rare, and I had when I see a million other people driving around in the car I drive, I like being unique. I bought my G37 when it was the first year it came out I love it because nobody had one, and everybody turned there head as they looked, that never happens anymore because it's been 4 years removed since I bought it and more people have them. I never see raptors and when I do I look and look twice.

It sounds to me like want to go with the Raptor but there's just something inside you that tells you it's not a practical choice. You find yourself leaning back toward the Denali which you know you'll quickly get bored with. Kinda makes the Raptor the more practical choice, don't cha think? Go ahead and pull the trigger. I seriously doubt you'll have any regrets.

This is exactly how I feel, and my family members keep saying that but the practicality is that I would like 3 more mpg per gallon, just because it has fox shocks and the best off-road capabilities it doesn't make it un-practical.

You come to a raptor forum and ask if you should get a raptor or Denali. Lol

Well yeah that was the point because even though your experienced with the raptors might be biased it's based on what seems like great experiences so that is what I wanted to hear. I should make a post on GMC forum, I'm kind of thinking some of them would say ooo a raptor you should get that I don't know I'm not big on the truck battles yet but I bet there are some GM owners that would say if you have an opportunity to buy a raptor do it, opposed to many ford owners who love their experience

The Raptor is the most badass truck ever built, but the Denali is much more practical if you're not going to offroad like you said.
I drove the Denali AWD, all aluminum 6.2L and it is badass in its own way, street rocket truck.
If this truck is going to be a daily driver look at gas milage. I get 11.9 mpg combined. The GM 6.2L does much better and the Dodge with Hemi, 8 speed even better yet.
My Dad owns a 2013 dodge and he has had multiple problems with it and my whole family owns dodges and as much as I used to like them when they first got them I have gotten away from them, I don't like them much anymore and could not see myself driving one.

Very good point, and as I was watching the denali before it came into production I thought it was being built up to being more of an accomplishment but the more and more I look at it and from the quick test drove I had I think it was more of an attempt.

I love modding my G37 but it was so expensive for everything and even though it was loaded and luxury, I started slapping on bolt ons to increase the hp, responsiveness, handling, sound, the raptor has all of that from day 1 and the gmc has the hp but I don't feel like it has anything else, even though the gmc says it has better hp and tq numbers I don't find it true because the 4.10 gear is the raptor compared to the 3.73 in the denali seems better for towing and tq. But driving the raptor compared to the sierra 1500 slt was like night and day, I felt excited to drive the raptor and comfortable like I actually knew how to drive, the gmc was so clunky and awkward to drive, the 5.3 v8 was so doggy, the pedal felt like mush when i pushed it, I'm going to be driving the denali as soon as it hits the the dealership and it's really a make or break at this point, I'm leaning so far towards the raptor now it's not funny. When I was shooting for the Denali, I didn't realize the raptor was in the price range of what I was going for, even the Jeep SRT is in range, but I more practicality with having a bed of a truck if it is 5.5 ft, it's better than I've ever had and is enough for the minimal times that I will use it.

For the raptor there is some immediate aftermarket parts I would look to add, first is the led headlights and taillights, not aftermarket but I do my own detailing so I would seal up and protect the paint, probably get some kind of tonneau cover, I don't think I would touch the exhaust just yet, but I would move to making it a dual exhaust, the SE rims would be fine for awhile, but I think I would like to lower the suspension a tad and level the truck out, see but it already sounds and seems so more fun, and I think the shelby aspect seems really intriguing down the road too, just to have that potential is a lot better feeling than whatever I would have with the Denali. I have heard a lot more good things than I have heard about GM also

Can I suggest instead of lowing the suspension to even the truck out that you do the mid-perch mod and raise the front end up. Move the perch, get an alignment...have a level truck and live happily ever after. Just a bit taller than stock.

OP, stop yapping and just go get a Raptor. Based on everything you have been going on and on about its clear that you are already answered your own questions and know what to get, you don't need to ask us.

Like you pretty much said, the Denali is just a fancy GMC 1500. Even though the Raptor is a F-150, it's almost not... nobody's gonna mistake a Raptor for a Lariat or any other F-150 variant.

Ford does not "push" Raptors on dealerships, in fact, they limit their allocation. Ford makes pretty good coin on Raptor sales because Raptor customers are willing to pay MSRP without a/x-plan or incentives. It's just the price you have to pay to have the most badass truck on the road and in turn it hugely keeps resale value high.

In regard to what justvettn said about Ford taking bailout money, it's just simply not true. Ford has and does receive government kickbacks just like every other US automotive manufacturer, but they were not bailed out like GM and Dodge and they're certainly not trying to be "sneaky" about it. It would have been detrimental to Ford if GM and/or Dodge had gone out of business because the effect it would have had on the auto supplier base. Ford wasn't in a stellar financial position at the time of the GM/Dodge bailout, but they were in a sound enough position to manage themselves without government bailout or control. I don't want to clutter this thread with this topic and will not comment on it further, but felt the urge to set things straight. If you want to discuss further, PM me.

Good luck with your decision.
