Not trying to be a Debbie Downer here but if your truck actually comes in, in 2 months you will be one of the very lucky few. Most here have been waiting from 3-5 months.

Oh Yeah no I'm not expecting it to by any means, I'm just rounding up lol, just typing quickly, they quoted me 4-5 months, I'm going to start tomorrow and call each Ford dealership in my area and see what they have to say, I have this deal in the works not official but it can't hurt to hear what the others have to offer

I don't know any reputable dealer that will special order a truck or car without running a credit check. They have no way of knowing if you can afford the vehicle or not, it's nothing personal it's just good business. In California deposits are refundable by law.

I'm fine with putting down a deposit and I'm fine with showing them the loan paperwork and appraising my car, what more do they need? There is no reason why they shouldn't be able to order or build a car without a credit check, if I'm financing through them then by all means run my credit, but I'm not I have my own financing, here is the paperwork if they need to really prove that or see it, other than that the money is in my car, so again give me 22k-25k and that is the rest of the money, there is no reason why this process should be this complicated. If I give them 1k deposit, and they build the truck and it comes in and I don't want it, you keep my 1k because it's nonrefundable and then that dealership has a 2014 raptor to sell and they would still make their profit back. That's hypothetical and I'm just saying, because I won't order it if I'm not going to buy it so I would not do something like that

I don't understand why anyone would be opposed to a dealer running a credit check, when they expect that dealer to order a $50,000 + vehicle. Unless they are hiding something, like a bad credit score, or too high of a debt ratio.

Yes, and you don't need to fill out a credit application for them to run your credit either. All they need is your social security number. I've never filled out a credit ap to buy a vehicle. They always check your credit. This is standard procedure.

I really believe why people are waiting so long is because their dealers don't have any allocations for Raptors at the time of the order. It should be 8-10 weeks especially now with the ramped up production.

Running a check, dings your score. If you have your own financing and can provide an pre-approval letter then there is no reason to let a dealer check it.

Besides, what difference does it make if they check it at time of order, in 3-5 months your credit score could go down drastically if hypothetically you stop paying all your bills. Then at time for delivery they pull it again then it would be denied. They would have to pull it once a month to keep an eye on you, dinging your FICA score even more. There is a point that they have to take some risk. In my mind, there is little risk on the Raptor, it will sell so they will do it.

Exactly as RDFTS said, I would prefer to not get a credit inquiry, plus I monitor my credit frequently and I like knowing exactly who is hitting my credit and that hit is for taking out a loan, not to just look at it even if it is a soft inquiry, I've seen what dealerships can do with a credit score and I would just prefer if they didn't especially since I am giving them a financing. Also I just called another dealership and asked about that and he said nope if your putting down a deposit then you don't need to.

I called Capital Ford which supposedly is the 1 Ford dealer in the southeast, he said they deal with SVT's and Shelby a lot more than the other dealership I called and it is no wonder they didn't know what they were talking about, he said that he believes they have an allocation available, and either way they would move around cars to make it happen. Also I talked to him about my trade and he said it shouldn't be a problem and he wasn't worried about it and that he would make the deal work. That is language and verbiage that I would prefer to hear, he also said that it would be about 2 months at the most to fill the order. I'm going to try one other dealership to see what they say but this one seemed pretty promising.

I went to the dealership and of course the guy I talked to on the phone wasn't there even though I made an appointment with him for that time. Anyways long story short they offered me 17k for my trade.... I walked out that is such a low-ball it's not funny, I'm gonna try some more but if that is what they are willing to give me for my trade then I'm not selling it I'd rather run it into the ground. But how when kbb and edmunds are valuing a car at 22k are they gonna say oh we will give you 17k, what a joke.

I know someone on here said they would low ball, but I expected them to come back with like maybe 20k, oh yeah and when I said okay, how about you come down a bit on the price of the raptor then, you know what he said, SVT's are a speciality vehicle we can get you a lariat or fx2.... I was like okay well thanks again for wasting my time have a nice day

You are still walking into dealerships? If I was going down to the dealer, it would be ONLY to show them the trade and ONLY if I was planning on giving it to them now. If the guy I made an appointment with wasn't there, I would of turned around and walked away. I had to do that once (when I bought my last truck) and they wanted to talk to me, nope look at my trade and the rest will be over email or phone, bye.

According to the thread of Dealers selling near invoice, none are listed for NC. The closest one I found was north of you in Virginia. You really ought to contact those dealers on the list, you might get further.

I asked the dealer today where I ordered my Raptor if they would match a CarMax quote for my truck I am thinking of trading to them. They said they do not, oh well their loss.

You really can't go by KBB, Edmund, NADA, etc. Sometimes they are either way too high or way too low. Need to find someone that can get hold of the Manheim Market Report (MMR) that is typically only available to dealers. The report will show you what your type of vehicle is currently selling in the auctions. Because think about it, If I can go to an auction and get your car for that price, why would I give you more than what I can get it elsewhere.

Again, contact those dealers on the list. Make the deal very simple. Your raptor, my car, $35k difference, take it or leave it, move on until one bites.

Good luck!
