I'm going to guess that the sheetmetal for the 2013 Raptor stays identical to ours, it is the baseline F-150 that gets a sheetmetal change to the roof and bed, leading to the difference in height. So the Raptor will still be based on the F-150, just not necessarily the current year model??? just my 2 cents

If you guys are still talking about the height in roof from BakFlip, they said that the Raptor is different than the regular F-150.

There is zero chance that Raptors will have a 'special' cab. It defeats the purpose of the truck - just unique enough to sell in large numbers but standardized enough to be built on the same assembly line as all the other F150's.

It would cost Ford a fortune to change only one small segment of a model and it would require a dedicated line. Somebody is confused ( Bakflip from the looks of it ).

If you read the press releases on the 2013 F-150's they do state that the cab is enlarged. There's a good chance the Raptor front and back ends won't mesh with the updated cab. So is it cheaper to redesign the fenders and hood of the Raptor, or to dedicate a small part time line to produce 2012 cabs to go with the existing Raptor parts? I say the Raptor stays retro IMHO.

If the cab is changed then they had to redesign the hood/fenders/bed on all the f150's. It would still be cheaper to update the 'special' body panels than to interrupt the line.

Something like ~60 trucks an hour roll off the line (maybe more), switching things up for a bastard model segment would cost some time.

Let's say it takes an hour to reset, that's two hours lost for each change - 6 million in lost production (~50k * 120) for every change. Economy of scale is the name of the game, it doesn't make sense to fly in the face of profit.

Having said all that, Ford did make the Edsel and the Mustang II so who knows.

Fix the Frame

My Guesses:
Fix the Frame - go with the RPG design, or start over.
Add a offroad performance package - Air bump, beefier springs + Fox 3.0
Fix the lights - add some integrated Vision X options, HID rpjectors should be std.
Allow the front Camera to come on in low speed parking w/o going thru all the gyrations of enabling, OR mode etc.
Install POV camera and record to HD - ok that is out there but it would be cool.
Engine is great but mileage sucks when you are just taking it easy. - I would like to compare an Ecoboost option, maybe special Raptor version, but I would worry about those turbos holding up after getting slammed on high impact landings. Maybe Supercharger on a small block v-8 say around 5 liters
Keyless ignition - I love being able to keep my keys in my pocket on my benz.
redesigned Power Steering pump/resevoir
Redesign the CAI to perform better in Water/mud
Redesign Front fender to accomdate 37" tires
Install a "Fun-O -Meter to record the hoots of joy when driving this amazing machine!

I hope that they offer a second interior color. Black is not great for a truck that is built for off-road. Tan, like in the F150, would be great!!!
