Only because of what it takes to add that where it is... You dont just add the extra and continue with production... It would need to be tested... The big thing would be a crash to see what happens... Like I said just a guess here Im betting that the new F150 will be in 2015

maybe Ford tested the frame in initial R&D with the thicker inner wall but decided from a cost and engineering standpoint that it wasn't entirely necessary at the time. for all we know, this could have been a consideration of thiers long before any frame bending issues and they just decided to make it happen in light of some of the bad press the Raptor frame-a-geddon caused.

this is all assuming the change was made in response to Raptor frame bending issues which for all we know it has nothing to do with it and it's merely a variation in manufacturing which has no quantifiable effect on structure or crumple zone.

Does this mean that 2013 trucks do not need the additional support for moderate off-roading. I assume Ford's changes are to eliminate the bent frame issues.

none of the Raptors need frame support for "moderate" offroading, assuming you mean moderate to the letter of the law.

Just saw the new chevy---looks good may have switch back. Ford has always gotten worse mpg than GM. Will wait and see but the Raptor imho will be gone wrhen the new model is brought out. It may be back in time but almost all SVT vehicles come and go to some extent.

Knew they would be doing something about the crap frame and many here said no way you are crazy etc. Well there ya go--just wish my truck had the different frame vs the bend o matic on the rest of the trucks. Just made ours go down in value "Baby Raptors" not really for hard off road use! For Off Road buy a 13 and up!!LOL!!!

Bet your ass if I ever look at a used one in the future the 12 on down are out.

Sorry Bird but you have been in the "vodka soaked seeds" on this one..

Our $100 rear frame kit has worked well on the "bend o matic" Raptors...

Man do I feel like crap. 3 years ago when I ordered my Raptor I thought I was getting one of the best production trucks ever made. Instead, I guess I got stuck with a crap bend o matic boat anchor baby toy, that I can't give away.

Now excuse me while I go drown away my sorrows by sucking on vodka soaked seeds and ******** to some GM ****.

It's interesting that despite the extra material, the curb weight went down from 2012 to 2013. I wonder where they trimmed the fat, and if this extra frame material was a graft (although I doubt it).

Pretty funny here---myself do not care what brand it is but just like on the GM and Dodge boards everything else is crap lol.

Just making the point that I did some time ago that when Ford DID come out with a fix there would then be a Ford Raptor Lite and a Ford Raptor. Does this really mean anything????? You can bet that the used market will value a 13 over the bend o matics period end of story. Many people will not even know what the hell the change was just that it was improved to make it more off road worthy because the older ones bent frames when jumping now with the new one you can jump the Grand Canyon lol.

Pretty funny actually---knew Ford would do something about this AND KEEP IT QUIET because like it or not it is a black eye for Ford. Hell the promo pics and vids were pulled because the truck had a bent frame lol.
