Ya, it can be a pain. Add to boat ramp checklist: Unstrap kids from car seats and/or remove from vehicle altogether. Engage 4L before the trailer tires enter the water (either launch or retrieval). I have gotten into this habit for a long time with my tow veh's and it makes the in/out almost effortless, and can literally be a lifesaver if the ramp is slick.

4L wouldn't matter in that situation at all. On slime once traction is broke it's going wherever it wants to. The only hope would be in gear running and when it breaks loose redline away hoping to scratch through to something that grabs. Sorry for your loss Doc. A true blessing as you said, the kids not being strapped in. A truck can be replaced. Your flesh and blood cannot.

The reason 4WD would help, is that the front tires are on dry ground. So the rears aren't getting traction, but the hope would be that the front are getting enough grip to pull you up, as opposed to free spinning.

Doh, yeah your right. The half of my brain that does work was on a break when I posted obviously. lol....I cant imagine the helpless feeling watching her go...

Wow. Pretty good for a flood. The labor involved with that repair is just too much for a personal venture.
