i just thought of something greg. during your fuel stops, i would try to avoid any small gas stations, and go for bigger chain stations. i remember reading that those small stations dont check their filters as much and will cause a slower rate of fuel transfer. when every minute counts, sitting twice as long at a gas station due to the giant gas tank is bad enough, but to have a slower fill rate would suck even more. i have definitely seen my fair share of slow fuel pumps. but it seems chevron, shell, 76, etc, are more maintained. although it costs a bit more (and i dont want to promote a gas company for any reason whatsoever), it might be worth making the stop.

I actually picked it up based on the the recommendations in this thread. Damn good book. Full of good info, too.

70mph average over long distance is going to win over 150mph top speed and being stopped several times..
