Any reason to be scared of this one?

I paid $35,000 for my 2012 with 72,000 miles has some upgrades, Method wheels General grapper tires new model red sidewall, Volant CAI, Deaver plus 3 springs, magnaflow exhaust, Outlaw bump stops. front and rear bumper powdercoated,fender extensions painted white. loaded like yours.

Looks damn good to me, if clear title and as mentioned looks like it was taken care of. Only big difference between that '12 and a '14 (other than maybe mileage but that isn't a given) is factory HID's, but I wouldn't let that stop me from considering it.

Went and saw this tonight, good news; bad news is how Id sum it up. The good, not a scratch or dent anywhere including the skid plates. It’s clearly never been off-road. The bad, rust. Im in PA, so surface rust is not scary to me. Im also not excited about paying $30k to head home and sand and paint, but his truck is from MI and has some heavy rust already. I also didn’t love the shocks, but dont know anything about them. Pic below.

It also clunked pretty good on the first shift of the test drive and then it was fine. Is that “the clunk”? Heated seat smelled a bit like melting plastic and it needs an new parking brake release/ sensor.

Then they topped it off with a pretty bad offer on my trade. As of now, we’re a few grand apart.

What do you all think?

Surface rust is one thing, eating through is another, I wonder how bad the rocker panels were. The shocks likely need to be rebuilt (or replaced, sometimes the price isn't much different) and would be 100% better, the surface rust can be treated, bad rust that you didn't see might be an issue, and all that adds up; if they aren't willing to meet your price (and maybe then some) I would walk.

The rockers are solid but need attention or they will be a problem before too long.
What is that part that rusted through?

Working a counter offer now but Im not sure what that is or is worth?
