I for one am very interested in what 2012 holds for the Raptor  I have weighed my options for the last 4 months and just can't seem to like any of the common F150's. The body is bla, the grilles are bla, the wheels are bla, the interiors are all the same.... I gotta have a raptor, its the only truck in the 09-12 body style I love! I don't want to do the whole lift kit/wheels/tires thing this time around, I want something different.

I am going to assume that the 12's will arrive in dealers in jan of 12?

Can't answer that question YET?? Will have to wait for the 2012 order bank to open............. Aug/Sept ??

The 2011 order bank opened Sept 3rd, and I had 3 pulled 1st week of Oct/2010. BUILD DATE of 11/12/2010 for one of my first Crew Cab Raptors. WARR START DATE of 12/10/2010 (delivery date)

2012

I've been curious also, I recently departed from my Jeep Wrangler JK Ruby... heavily moded. Ready to learn the world of high speed offroad in SoCal. Have 50k in the car fund just sitting there looking at me with a stupid grin. I'm trying to decide if I should get a 2011 now or just wait for the 2012. The wife just wants me to order the 'boss' 302 and get it over with, however she would wreck that car I'm thinking.

Front Locker isn't really a big deal to do yourself, for the base cost of a Raptor... a 800$ front Eaton is a drop in the bucket and you'd only lock up every once and a while. You do risk ripping it up if you like to lock up playing in snow, not sure how ford would feel about the warranty on that. Lots of guys I know tear their gears up in freezing weather locked up.

I've been crawling with a TF long arm in the JK for years, but now we are looking at the crewcab. I cant imagine trying to clear much in that truck, I'd turn it into a teter-totter real quick. So I think its probably useful to have a front locker... how much in the rocks I'd use it? Probably not much cause its just 2 big and 2 heavy of a truck to be doing anything knarly.

The main thing I'm concerned about is the 2012 emission mandate. I know that has forced Ford to do a lot of things different next year, like the new Econoboost F-150 and the even newer Econoboost Explorer. If by some sweet luck of god ford decided to Eco Boost the 5.0 Liter in the Raptor, it would just be awesome. I mean damn they are getting 444 HP out of that engine naturally aspirated...:hmm:

What I would give to see that come true. There would be no competition for that combo. Ford would absolutely dominate the OEM offroad truck market for years...well, even more so than they are already!

Randy- good to see you around again!

The Ecoboost is a horrible idea for offroad. The 5.0 is a great idea, only problem is space for an enginge cage for guys that want to build the truck, but then again we would gladly figure it out, but since Ford is getting rid of the Ranger 1 day, I highly doubt well see either engine in that truck, at least not in America

turbo chargers and dirt don't mix

Ya, well nothing mixes well with dirt...except coeds. :naughty:

Rally racers, baja runners, dune buggies...they have all run turbos in dirt and sand with no problems. Ya, you can find cases of turbos blowing from offroading, but you can find cases of naturally aspirated engines having issues as well. Offroading is tough on machines no matter the power plant. If you stay on top of your air filters (Uni with oil or the like) and engine maintenance then what's the issue?
