Hi guys,
So I am looking to buy a Gen 1 SCREW and I live in California. My budget range is low 30s. In that price point, I can either get a high mileage (>100k) 2013/4 model or 2010-2012 with maybe around 80k miles. Or I could also get a 2010-2012 with ~100k for a few thousand less.

My question is, is the changes for the 2013/4 models worth the trade off?

Also, any point in paying more to get it from a dealership?

Currently talking to a private seller for a 2013 with 115k miles. Only seen pictures of it, but it does look clean. And the seller is has his own shop so he has done some maintenance on it recently (He was only had for about 6 months). Lowest he said he will go is $32k.

I appreciate any advice. Thanks.

depends on wear on the vehicle. The 2010 has the old system, I would avoid if you can. You cant manually shift through all the gears and this had been one of my peeves for my truck since I got it. take the to get an inspection.

I am in the same boat. Looking for a Gen 1 but dont want to go higher than $35k. The mileage means a lot to me. I don't want one with over 70k miles. I prefer a 13' or 14'.

But, there isnt that big of a difference 12' vs 13' or 14'. If I were you I'd go with a 12' with lower miles. If you look hard enough you can probably do a 12' in the 60k mile ballpark for low $30's.

Or, hold off one more year. Only my opinion, but I think the Gen 3 is going to have a V8 option. If it does that should drop the Gen 1 price market and even more so for the Gen 2. But who is kidding who, neither of us can probably wait another year.

Love my 10 but i would say get the 13-14 you’ll like the differences. Headlights are way nicer on the 13-14 as well. Also ford reinforced the rear of the frame in 2012 I believe.

^ I'd go for a 13/14. HID lights and an updated center console are a nice improvement over the previous years. Otherwise I'd go for a 12. The 10s had the old school dash which is cool, but doesn't have as many features. You sometimes are able to find a 13/14 less then 100k miles for around $35,000.

I must respectfully disagree with this. Its a numbers game on the value of the Raptor. Roughly four percent of Ford's yearly F-150 builds are Raptors. Of that Four percent, 70% of those are SCREWS. The cars now a days that are bringing the monster money at the various auctions are the rare one. Think Shelby GT-350 mustangs from the late sixties, or even the Hemi Cuda from 1970. Both Dodge and Ford made a gilzillion Mustangs and Cuda's, but how many were the Hemi or GT-350's? The price may dip lower, but it will never bottom out.

Your basically buying somebody elses problem so they can get a new Raptor. Ford now offers 0% for the 2019's and trust me a year ago they wouldn't even consider that offer to a 6 X buyer with excellent credit.
You can get the basic Raptor 800 (which is what I have and they start at about 54000 and that package comes with the new type shocks. You won't get leather seats or the top line stereo or sunroof but its still a Raptor and you'll have a warranty.
Go haggle with dealers who don't work on commission. There's plenty of them here in the southeast I'm sure there are some in your geographic area.

FWIW
I debated this and chose 13/14

13 was cheaper
Love the headlights, frame is improved, and interior console better

FWIW, '12s got the torsion front diff and front camera... I'm not a big tech guy and the Sync 2 system works great for me. I probably wouldn't notice the difference with the Sync 3 rather than the different dash buttons. The HIDs are nice, but price replacements if they got bad... If you're going to add light bars, the added brightness of the HIDs is pretty well negated other than on-road (most light bars are not DOT legal).
Either way, you end up with a Raptor. Its a win-win.

Lol you basically want the poor guy to double his budget.

I would look for the lowest mile, best condition 13-14 but I would also consider a 12 due to upgrades that model year. I would avoid 10-11.
