How long was your truck in New Boston before it was assigned a railcar? Mine has been in New Boston since 3/10, and still no updates. FP tells me status still the same. Although one of the guys at FP, Jeremy, seems to think it went by Road from New Boston to MA whereas everyone else (Eric, Tom at FP, and my dealer) think it's waiting for a railcar to be assigned. My truck has been sitting at the Nashville railyard all week waiting to be offloaded onto a truck. ETA of 3/21 to dealer.
My truck switched to ship on 3/4. FP had a mid of info. They showed it shipped via convoy however half of the guys said it will definitely end up going by rail. On 3/7 it showed up at New Boston waiting to be loaded on a rail car and the status didn’t change until Monday 3/14 when they said it just showed up in Nashville. FP is the ones who are saying it’s arrived in Nashville at the rail yard. FP has been saying it’s waiting to be unloaded onto a truck since Monday. The dealer is only 80 miles away. I’m like come on boys, deliver my truck already. How long was your truck in New Boston before it was assigned a railcar? Mine has been in New Boston since 3/10, and still no updates. Was it FP who told you your truck was at the Nashville railyard, or your dealer (VVR)?
Thanks.
I'm in a very similar situation, feels like, and just a week or so behind you. Switched to ship on 3/9 or 3/10 I forget, and for the past week FP has told me status has unchanged - ramp 5M New Boston. More than just having to wait longer, my concern is the truck getting here on/after the 31st when I have to travel overseas for 9 days. So if it starts to get close to the 31st and the truck isn't here yet, I'm hoping I can do all the paperwork / go through the transaction before I leave and pick it up once I'm back.
Since you're in CA and having it shipped to you, will you do the paperwork, etc. remotely and wire funds to them? I was thinking about that as my backup option if I'm doing all this while overseas.
Thanks for the suggestion. I wouldn't be wiring funds from international accounts into the US; just logging into my US bank account while overseas and wiring to the dealer's US bank account.Depending where you are going overseas I would advise against wiring funds outside of the US even being a citizen. What you are doing is legitimate but has a high possibility of being scrutinized since your total trip is only 9 days.
Set up something before you leave and tell them they will feel wrath and destruction if they sell the truck out from under you
We’re in very similar situations. I’m waiting for the call to figure out how they are going to the paperwork. Docusign or old sloop hard copy. I recently bought a q7 for my wife and they did old skool hard copy paperwork and it took 2-3 days total to get it back in their hands. I also have two back to back trips one somewhat local and the other international. After all this wait, of course it will deliver while I’m gone.I'm in a very similar situation, feels like, and just a week or so behind you. Damn, similar situations indeed. I too bought a Q7 for my wife and from a dealer 4 states away, although many years ago (Sep 2016 when the new gens had just come out). Once the Raptor purchase is behind me, sometime next fall I'll start the process for a deal on a replacement for the Q7. It's still in great shape though (~30K miles). We’re in very similar situations. I’m waiting for the call to figure out how they are going to the paperwork. Docusign or old sloop hard copy. That's exciting. Home stretch, bro. Eagerly awaiting your pictures / updates on final processing with dealer. Thanks for all you've shared so far.Update: FP is saying now the truck has been received in Nashville. I guess Monday it was in Nashville but not received yet. 4 days to receive. Now probably waiting on a truck to load it up and take it to the dealer. Eta is Monday.
