Talon, you might want to consider riding with one of the Raptor owners on this trip. There should be an open front passenger seat in someone's Raptor and you'll get a chance to enjoy the experience in Afton Canyon and learn about offroading a bit while enjoying a couple nights camping under the stars.

Also (FYI), we're working on an alternate trip to the Barstow-to-Primm run either in the Vegas area or in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park/Ocotillo Wells for those of us who aren't going to do the B-to-P pickup truck run.

That would actually be really cool if i can drag myself away from the office long enough to make it. but im committed to making a run with you guys next month on the weekend of the B to P run....regardless of where we actually go.

Huh? What'd I miss? Wha' happened?

Well...Ironically Afton Canyon..... I was out there about a month ago running the Mojave Road with my Dad and pulled a moron move and backed into a trash can ( I have a backup camera ;P) and scratched the crap out of my bumper.....Figured it was no big deal, just a battle scar...Then, 2 weeks later I was driving to Oak Hills to pick up my grandpa for a fishing trip in the Sierras. There were some T-storms in the desert, and just as I crested the hill on the 15 south at Afton road.....I got hit with the strongest wind/hail/rain I'd ever been in ( including tropical storms and hurricanes growing up in FL). In 30 secs-1 min the front of my Rap was blasted...Filed with my insurance company the following Monday.....Then since I knew it was going in, I joined my cousin, Aunt and Uncle, and my dad on a jeep run here in the vegas area called Potato Ridge.....Where I was rock crawling ( fun , but not smart) and scraped the outside edge of my passenger step-rail and tore off the rubber,line-x like coating...... It went into the body shop the Tuesday after Labor Day.......
....Final damage tally:
Repaint= front bumper, roof, both front quarter panels, and hood
Replace = front bumper inserts, grille, driver and passenger rear view mirror, and both head lights, Passenger step rail ( apparently it can't be repainted) rear bumper, and windshield

Grand Total: $7000

Thank god for insurance. My out of pocket is only 750 for the bulk of it and I'm paying 1400 for the rear bumper and passenger step rail.

So, with any luck, I'll be sporting a shiny Raptor on this trip so I can have more fun in it. More than likely it won't be done in time. I'll be a game time decision. Hopefully you see a southbound rooster flyin' across the desert toward you on Friday...:racing:
