I call Ford and talked to customer service and have a case nu. But I need to go higher up the chain and really don’t know how.
First of all, you should report both dealers to Ford corporate for ignoring the --emissions problems-- with the truck. Smoke from the exhaust will fail VA inspection and will almost certainly fail the smog test.
2nd, report them both for the “no codes, no fix” to Ford corp. That’s laziness. leaking sun roofs don’t throw codes, do they tell everyone with a leaking sun roof to GFT ? no. Refusing to look at the pictures or videos is trying to ignore evidence and that’s exactly what the pictures and video are, evidence (of a problem, covered by the manufacturer’s warranty). My dealer s/a was happy to check out videos I took, took notes and that was that. This behavior illustrates a service department that is not doing their job and not honoring the Ford factory warranty.
3rd, find a good dealer service department in the area. request the service manager to address your concerns and make it clear, ‘cannot duplicate problem’ is the wrong answer. Show the above pictures, next time, try to get video, but either way make sure your license plate shows in the picture.
4th, item 2 has happened to a couple or 3 folks here, and been identified as a bad seal in the turbo IIRC.
The good news is, phone video is inexpensive, so video your startups until you get a problem recreation. make sure your video includes you announcing date, time, conditions, time since last start.
Tell ford CS you’re disappointed in their treatment of you through the 2 previous, uncaring dealer service departments, in consideration of you purchasing their ‘halo’ truck. You expect better treatment.
While you should, at this point talk to a lawyer, you need either 4 attempts to repair the same thing or 31 days down, not inclusive of any time that you’ve been provided a loaner car for, in order to satisfy the VA lemon law.
Don’t mention lawsuit, lemon law, etc. to anyone - either Ford c/s or the stealerships. Those comments get entered into your vehicle’s record and your VIN get’s ‘flagged’. you’ll find it a little longer to get service as every concern you raise, the service department notifies regional that you’re in for a warranty concern and the regional guy / gal comes in to look for abuse or neglect to be able to void your warranty and short circuit your suit. No warranty repairs commence until they know they don’t have the ability to void you.
If you sue, expect about 90 days to 18 months until an offer for a settlement. You may be offered non-binding arbitration, in the interim, let your lawyer guide you there. Ditto if they offer a settlement.
