Buy a BMW, seriously, it's a truck. If you have the need, the need for speed, by a german car, like a BMW.

But I'd challenge you with this, take that bad boy off-raod, nice twistie, bumpy road and tell me how you feel driving faster then 70mph.

hell yes.. even with the restricted speed of "45" mph at the Texas Raptor Run. It was plenty fast for some of the sections.. When trees, a bolder sticking out of the side of the hill, animals, or cresting a hill at "45" mph.. It will fix your need for speed on the street.. Offroad with this truck is 100000000000 times than onroad with this truck.

FYI, I don't need a beemer.
I've got a Z28 that I've gps'd at 158, so that is taken care of...

All I asked was if a Ford tech could simply change the speed limiter w/o having to put a tune in it...

I'm a little disappointed at only 100mph. 120 would sound more reasonable to me, especially on an SVT vehicle.
I just got rid of an '06 SCrew w/ 6" lift, 36" Swamper IROKs, a tune, CAI, & exhaust that would run all of 120 when I asked her to...

As for driving off road at speeds, I've driven wide open thru Afghanistan, Nevada, and grown up in the midwest, which is not lacking in level B backroads...

I actually had it out the other day on some dirt roads that had some sweeping curves, ruts, sand and small bridges cross roads that you could catch air off of.
They way it performed was second to none for a factory truck.

I'll probably end up just going w/ a tune.
I talked to my buddy that said he could clear the log files in it if I ever had to take it in for warranty work.

So...

What would you all suggest for a tuner?

  • It's a daily driver
  • I pull trailers up to 6500lbs occasionally, but mostly less than half that.
  • I like to have adjustability in the shift points, but it's not necessary.
  • Hunting, fishing etc
  • and of course, the occasional offroading!

If I add a tuner, I'll more than likely add a CAI too.
I've ran the K&N FIPK's on several different vehicles over the years and liked them, but I'm open to considerations like the AirRaid, etc.

Thanks,
PT

Definately 5star tuner with AFE stage 2 cai with lid... I saw too many trucks with muddy open CAI at the Texas Raptor run.. If you are planning to play in the mud, get the lid.. The extra money is will worth the peace of mind! And Mike @ 5star is great!!!
