Had the loud "POP" sound through the speakers once a few weeks back then my wife had it happen last week. She said she thought the windshield popped out since we had just recently had it replaced.
Definitely annoying... be nice to know what exactly causes this.
The car market across the board is softening. Many folk like myself are just done paying inflated prices for less options, so more and more vehicles are sitting on the lots. I can't imagine anyone paying above MSRP on a Raptor unless they buy into the dealer B.S. An R is a little different, but...
I don't have one handy at the moment, but at full temp(205+) it should be between 5 and 6. If it's colder, it'll be less than 6. Mine at 187/189 degrees is at the triangle mark under the 6 mark.
IWE=Integrated Wheel Ends. Basically it's what engages the hub during 4A/4H/4L. Yes there's a transmission dipstick, but it's a stubby one on the passenger side above the transmission pan. 19MM cap comes off then you can access the dipstick. Kinda stupid design, but not too hard to access. I...
No, just make sure you document mileage and keep receipts and you should be good. They can't deny you for doing maintenance yourself unless you do something during the maintenance that causes the failure.
Check your own fluid level, take photos then find a competent independent shop to do it if you don't want to do it yourself. Ford dealer screwed up the fluid level 2X on my last Raptor. I have the necessary scan tool to activate the ABS. I believe that is also in Forscan which I also have. I...
I have not yet. I think it's not required until 100K/5yr. Will most likely do it early like everything else though. Brake fluid flush is something I'll also be doing early.
The 10 speed is very fluid/temp picky. I've always noticed harsh/clunky shifts when the trans temps are cold. I always let it warm up as much as I can before heading down the road. Motor warms up quick, but the transmission sometimes takes 25 miles of driving to get to 185 degrees. These tend to...
Definitely a lack of care and trying to save a buck is mostly what it boils down to. My Dad was a Senior Master ford tech up until he passed in 2017. He was frustrated at the lack of care as well. They'd opt to give work to the new/inexperienced techs just to keep from paying him.
Appreciate it. I need more Raptor stuff to be honest, but since it's primarily a firearm channel, I haven't done nearly as much as I'd like to. have thought of starting a dedicated gear head/Raptor channel.
I know my IWEs are bad too. Feel that rumbling feel in the front at low speeds intermittently that will go completely away in 4A or 4H. Dealer's are frustrating with how quick they are to say they didn't find anything.
Ford in general has lost me as a customer... no plans to ever purchase another new Ford and this is coming from a lifelong Ford customer and Ford family. If anything, I'll get a gen 1.
2021 with just under 60K. Pretty sure at least one of the IWEs need replaced, just haven't had time to get it into the shop. Have extended warranty to 125K. I've done front/rear diff/transfercase fluid exchanges. Transmission fluid/filter. Replaced the rear diff cover with the fP one and the...
I hate to say it, but you're more likely to have a bad experience at most any of the dealer service departments these days. Kind of a roll of the dice. None of them are particularly consistent when it comes to Ford. I'm sure the other domestic dealers are similar, but i haven't owned a GM or...
Don't go to Crossroads in Fuquay or Capital in Lillington. Apex store(back when they were in Cary) were decent, but that's been quite a few years since I've last been there. The Apex quiicklane is where I go for basic tire/oil changes and have been going there for many many years and always happy.
I'm considering picking up a gen 1 sometime down the road so when my Gen 3 craps out, I'll still have a Raptor. Good luck with the sale! Love the color!
Was $270 labor at an independent shop. Brought them the fluid, filter, grommet and had them install the B&M pan with the drain plug for future fluid drain & fill. I measured the fluid level before taking it in and gave them photos so they could put it back exactly the way it was before the job...
