I am in the infosec space as well. Another reason I did not opt for an Android unit ;)

This thread has been the most succinct since information is spread across multiple forums and posts. I sourced everything...
Wanted to update this thread that instead of getting the Amazon/eBay GPS antenna I ordered a 2016+ Ford F-150 antenna and splitter. The antenna was identical to my stock one but the 2016+ antenna carries both GPSM/Sirius signal. It all plugged into the factory wiring.
Had some downtime today to install it:
This was my first time. Laying down the carbon fiber was the most difficult part. The resin is very forgiving just have to be careful how much you sand down.
My SYNC 3 is a NAV unit, so as long as my antenna has signal I have GPS. If you go with the Android/Phoenix unit, yes you lose the physical controls. You will have to wait for the unit to boot up before you can control your HVAC. I have read with the newer gen radios if you go with the higher...
Did you notice it running lean with this combo? I had someone sell me their Rousch CAI really cheap and they mentioned that once they threw on the 5-star tune the AFRs were not good.
The bottom piece is all done and drying. Put 2-coats of automotive clear and have to let everything cure for a few days before I can install back in the truck. The top piece is still WIP and I will upload later.
eBay has kits with different weave patterns and the resin. I wanted to try it out first before I invested in resin since you can only seem to bulk purchase it in quarts.
I was heavily considering this until I started looking at features and function compared to the SYNC 3. You get CarPlay/AA with SYNC 3 natively and I prefer to have the buttons for my HVAC controls. Doesn't look like this supports the front camera, either? For the price point of $500 for SYNC 3...
Wasn't too difficult just had to think differently (if that makes sense). Meaning, it's not like vinyl or super stretchy. When you lay down the carbon fiber material you have to try and not stretch it so getting around corners or complicated contours can be tedious. To get any sort of sharp edge...
Was not a huge fan of the Di-Noc (vinyl) and hydrodipping was expensive and I did not like any of the patterns I saw at various shops - it looked too fake to me. I looked into carbon fiber skinning and materials were actually cheap! The drawback is that it is time-consuming. I started with the...
Just wanted to thank @jgwoody for this and also confirm my front camera works on my 2014 following this procedure. I am updated to SYNC version 3. The upgrade from 1.1 was soooo slow, but no regrets yet with SYNC 3 and still loving it!
Digging around some more related to APIM configurations I ran across a tool called AsBuiltHacker. It lets you compare multiple AS builds which really helped me quickly shed light on an issue I was trying to hunt down. I was able to compare 4 APIM configurations from a 2017 Raptor and get my...
I am a stickler for OEM so I picked up a 2016-2017 antenna for the roof. The part number has "GPS" and "Satellite radio" in its description so my hope is that this newer antenna carries both signals. Part number HL3Z-10E898-AA is the antenna and I picked up the splitter (GL3Z-10E928-AA) as well.
Comparing what you have to others your values are different. From the APIM Google Sheet your values look to be for a Lariat FX4. I would flip back to page 11 and 12 where @rkneeshaw posted his APIM configuration. I cross-referenced what he had with the Google Sheet and another forum post with...
P.S. For you super nerds out there Sync 3 has been jail broken.

They have not released too many details (the how-to). They just keep giving teasers on what they've been able to do with it unlocked.
For anyone piecing together the kit themselves this eBay seller has a really nice adapter harness.

Even though it's...
Awesome! Appreciate for your input and I hope to have the same luck to confirm 2014 is fine for the front camera. Hoping the weather gets warmer in these next few weeks so I can tackle it.
I just can't justify the $600+ cost for programming. Especially when there are other folks who are doing the same for less than $100. I'm sure you are also paying for QA and the company's time for testing everything to make sure it functions before it gets to you and their support, but I'm just...
For those ballers on a budget (like myself), I ended up piecing everything together for $500 for a total "PnP package" - no pigtails or hacking wires. That also includes the FORScan cable. The cheapest screen I could find is when I went searching for the Escape screens. When I would search for...
