I have a '10 and have had zero issues. Will that trend continue with the '17? Maybe. My concern is there are a lot more new things added in addition to the usual Raptor bits.
Would I buy one? Yeah, I probably would.
100% of construction equipment is diesel, and a large percentage are turboed, so the operating in a dusty / dirty environment isn't a big concern....The air filter technology is there and proven.
Now if you're one of those guys who NEVER cleans his air filter & needs a shovel to get all the...
Oh yeah, I had to beat the hell out of mine to get them loose. Cant remember exactly what, but I used some lube lying around the shop (friend's place) to help things along. I was surprised how seized they were.
Wow, I feel lucky. My set screws came right out, but both collars took a ton of beating with lube to break them free. I think the root cause is the collar is aluminum and the screw is steel. Probably a bit late, but maybe a bit of heat from a heat gun directed to the collar might expand things...
Yes, the valve covers on a 5.4 are dull and unpolished..
Unless your running in the dunes, heavy mud or such you don't really need the 6.2. It will take a bit longer, but you can get into plenty of trouble with the 5.4.
Next step is roll the truck upside down to try to shake it back out the way it went in.
Good idea, I hear Nosbusa- AKA Car Stereo Company is good at getting Raptors to do the roll thing. Shoot him a PM, I am sure he would be willing to help.
As mentioned, pre run, learn a section of road then slowly step up the speed. Biggest problem with these trucks is they are so capable...to a point, then things can go bad all at once.
And lots of times you don't know when that is until its to late.
Because they are so smooth the sensation of...
IIRR all you can get is a 30 degree temp drop from exterior ambient to interior vent so those of you where it gets screaming hot you aren't going to see the same vent temps as those in more temperate areas.
I have found that for best results while in traffic I have to run it on recirc, on the...
My 2010 does this randomly, done it since new.
I don't have remote start, so it's always with the key. What seems to get it going is I shut the system off, restart it and it seems to work fine until the next random occurrence. I never bothered to take it to the dealer due to the randomness...
Slow your roll there spunky--I am one of those 50+ owners and I know what I have.
Actually, Reno is weird, I only see Raptors going the other way, and usually I am in my wife's truck or company vehicle, so waving is pointless.
The few times I have managed to wave I usually don't get...
My guess is U joint. Drop the driveline, you will be able to tell if it is a U joint, as it will not be smooth as you move it through its range of motion.
Going to start with the basics. I saw something similar on a recent run...the air box was full of dirt. To say the air filter was dirty is an understatement.
I have an undercover bed cover. it's the plastic one, very lightweight & you can stand on it.
Up until my last run it was great. That's when all the rivets that hold the cover to the hinges failed. It slid backwards, turned into a cape. With some help, we got it secured for the rest of the run...
Did the dealer tell you beforehand the Raptor you flew all the way to WA for was Blue???
(inside joke)
Actually, good thread. I might just get a visa for the people's republik so I can help with this build.
Yes, great run. Lots of fast sections. Anyone within a reasonable distance needs to come out for the poker run- gonna be a good time.
Yeah, it was me with the cape incident- thanks to Juiced and the wedding planner (you know who you are) for their help. I am having a hard time undoing our great...
Do not like the new grille. For me the Raptor has lost its styling edge. While I like the lower weight and larger shocks, I am on the fence about the Eco boost & 10 speed due to the added complexity. Time will tell.
