I would grab an infrared thermometer and start probing across the radiator to make sure it’s all at the same temp. If, for example the left is 30 degrees cooler that the right, there may be a flow blockage. You could also take a picture of the radiator with the FLIR iPhone thermal camera...
Sorry for the newb question, but when people say “just level it”, are they referring to just adding 1”-2” spacers on the front springs?
Is this ok to do with the 2019 shocks?
Don’t spend that much money. I just bought a Uniden R3 for like $300 new. I don’t think you need the arrows. It’s mainly for my Evo. I don’t feel safe going too fast in my Raptor with it’s extremely poor braking performance and handling.
I am heading back out into the Rockies this weekend and planning to widen/clear some trails. It’s all national forest. Does anyone know what the rules are for this?
One of the trails has a log that fell across it. I will be bringing a chainsaw to clear this. What other tools would be good? Has...
Thanks for all the great info! I am thinking I will keep the Evo with blizzaks ready to go for the slick stuff and the raptor for the deep stuff for the first season.
Exactly what I was looking for! Even with how low profile those chains are on the inward side, you can’t fit them in front...
This is my first pickup and since I got it in May, this will be my first time driving in snow, so I have a few questions. I am used to driving and ice racing an AWD Evo with snow mode, blizzaks, and a torque vectoring rear differential. I’m guessing the handling on a raptor will be quite a bit...
So I guess the only difference mine had is that it wouldn’t start. I hit the start button and it flashes these errors
-Engine coolant over temperature
-See manual
-Park brake limited function service required
-Service advance trac
-Blind spot system fault
-cross traffic system fault
-Hill...
Sounds exactly like mine. There are two theories as far as I can tell.
1) water in the wiring harness connector in the driver side wheel well - did you go through water recently? Mine did it after a car wash
2) the gateway module needs to be replaced. This is what the dealer ended up doing on...
A second vehicle is always good if possible - don’t go alone. My raptor is currently at Ford because it has tendencies to leave me stranded.
In addition to what others have mentioned: Lots and lots of water, a hat, sunscreen. Maybe buy a 5-10 gallon jug.
Not seeing a need for a gun in Utah...
Good question. As others have pointed out, the 3.5L isn’t meant for 24/7 high engine load (e.g towing, plowing, hauling). Turbo *gasoline* engines are great when you only need the full HP occasionally and bad when you need it 100% of the time. My Jeep Wrangler 4.0L turbo could see 1600F (pre...
Thanks for all the great info Sam! I run an AP on my Evo and might get another for my Raptor. One question - according to the factory AFR gauge (which I assume is a WBO2 but I could be wrong), the raptors run super rich. South of 14:1 during light throttle and cruising. Does the AP lean these...
4500 miles, 3 months on my 2019.
Engine doesn’t always start on the first push. Alarms go off at random (e.g. engine overheated, traction control failure, etc.). Haven’t had a chance to take it in yet.
I’ve noticed that I have the fewest issues on my 2019 if I plug it in after the car has time to boot up. Then I unlock the phone and open a CarPlay compatible app (Waze), and only then do I plug it in. If I do this, it almost never freezes.
As others have mentioned, updates to Sync probably...
What? Typically you run higher octane to reduce chances of knock and preignition on engines with high compression ratios and forced induction. Why would the injectors care what the octane is?
I heard if you put 85 octane in, your gas tank falls off. :)
I would take a forced induction any day over a naturally aspirated motor with equivalent HP if they have the same reliability. On a Ford turbo engine, that’s a big if.
NA engines get pretty gutless at high altitudes
I would definitely take action. The question is what you would sue for. If it were me, I’d file a small claims action for the value of the remaining free oil changes you have.
It won’t be worth much money but getting a judgement against a fraudulent business is never bad. Small claims are...
Holy crap! This thread is why I was hesitant to get a Raptor. The OP states his experience/credentials and every insecure prick feels threatened and tries to call him out. Probably because if the OP speaks the truth, they feel less manly/rich/endowed/successful. Let’s just assume he is telling...
