Loving my kit so far!
Question: If I leave the AP plugged in, every time I start the truck, the AP goes to the gears turning screen, and I have to exit out of that and then select gauges to bring up the gauge screen. Not a big deal, but kind of annoying, would love to have it...
I've been driving on the AP for over a week now with the full intake, a couple days on the 87 map (I fuel 91 in CA) and the remainder on the 91 map. I've also been talking with two of my friends with '17s, @Raptor-FTW and another who lurks here. We all have the same takeaways pretty much.
My...
Sorry, but you’re wrong. I wasn’t guessing. I’ve had the kit installed since Tuesday. I had literally just flashed before I wrote my description that you’re correcting. It doesn’t work like you’re describing, at least not yet.
Switching between the 87, 91 or 93 OTS maps or any other maps on the...
Not quite. I put KOM on my gauge screen the other night after switching maps, and it took about a 45 min drive for it to adjust slowly up to 1. Moreover, the Cobb notes specify that KOM is limited to zero while engine coolant is under 130° F. KOM starts at 0 on start and after a map switch, at...
Flashing between tunes on the AP (not uninstalling to return to factory), takes less than 90 seconds. It’s really not a big deal. If that still isn’t your speed, no worries, but I wanted to make it clear that it’s as easy as checking a text message and takes little time, because of the AP.
I don’t really have a problem with your stance on this and I don’t really disagree, I’m just saying that it isn’t what drove my decision on this.
You asked in the post I first responded to why people were excited without a TCM tune, I was giving you an answer.
Like I said, I wouldn’t have gone...
I’m not sure about the others, but to me it’s about Cobb’s reputation and reliability and safety as a tuner. I wouldn’t trust any of the other tuner companies, personally. Not that I have any experience with them, because I don’t. Cobb has built a reputation for conservative and careful tuning...
I left mine in. You’re clearly wrong and your truck is slower and less swirly and has 13.3 less horsepower and you should feel bad. Swirls, like body kits, big wings, and individual throttle bodies on NA Honda Civics, add at least 10 hp. I’m right and you’re wrong, forever.
I agree with this...
Hard to tell after one drive but I did leave the swirl generators in, which Cobb notes doesn’t seem to make a difference but they think it’s quieter without the swirl generators.
Yes, I’m in California, so it’s ACN 91, which is why I decided to try out the 87 map before switching over.
Everything’s looking good! Stage 1+. Install was easy. Running 87 Octane just to be conservative but will bump to 91 tomorrow.
Raining here so didn’t get to hoon like I’d like, but power is definitely noticeable. Kit quality is great overall, small hitch in a lack of the Cobb plaque on the air...
Maps are available for 91 and 87 as well.

You'll probably be able to order from Cobb the same day that they release the parts for dealers to sell, so don't sweat it too much. Just buy direct from Cobb, or if you want to get in touch with someone local to you who knows their product, use the dealer locator tool on their website.
I've heard that Cobb dealers who placed pre-orders will be receiving orders very soon, including mine.
I committed sight unseen, but given what I know of them from the Subaru scene and from friends who have relied on them in the past, especially compared to some of the stories I've heard of the...
I believe he was stating that this is a problem with the Kuat, which it definitely is. I test fit one on my Gen2 and was clearly going to be an issue. My bike shop has had reports of the Kuat trays melting as well.
I'm aware of that, but none the less body shops generally have a pretty good idea of where the line is when they've been around a long time. Moreover this situation has been discussed with the insurance inspector for the region for a few days and they're aware of it and pretty clearly not under...
While this would be rad, I do unfortunately need to be able to haul half-ton micro bins in the bed of my truck, so giant coils coming through the bed would probably not work out for me.
But it'd be fun to cut BJ Baldwin off in traffic with.
Trust me... if I feel like I'm not getting a repair that brings the truck back to factory fit and finish, I will be writing some very strongly worded letters... and by that I mean I will harass every phone number, twitter account, email address and mailing address until I am made whole.
I...
