Just had this same issue with electromic BOV (turbosmart) no longer actuating and releasing pressure. Mine had been on for about 18 months. You could definitely tell when letting off the throttle quickly there was no where for the excess pressure to go.
I attempted to lube my BOV (despite...
I fought the same battle on my 2017 Raptor too. They wanted to just cap the vacuum so the IWEs were permanently engage, which is obviously the incorrect procedure to perform on Raptors (Torsen differential especially and Torque on demand). I talked to a the regional Ford engineer who stated...
2017
85k (tuned/e85) since 25k
Transmission at 9k
IWE x 3 (including hubs x 1 and actuators x 2)
Horn
Timing cover leak
Leaking oil pan x 2
Pinion seal
Just type in Goosetuned in the search function and that should answer your question in about 60 seconds.
Winfield is beyond reproach. He has tuned everything in my truck, I now run straight e85. He has answered questions on holidays and just about any other time I needed some help. When my...
This was a done on 2013 - 2018 F150/expeditions, but I don’t think it included Raptors.
• Note: The new TCCM calibration changes IWE operation at start up. When ambient temperature is above 0°C (32°F) the IWEs stay engaged regardless of a 4WD mode selection for approximately 0.8 km (0.5...
A couple of thoughts:
1. Actuators are not completely disengaged so they are “grinding” in both 4a or 2wd. Lift the front of the truck up so the wheels are off the ground. Put 25 of vacuum to each actuator (one at a time) and turn the tire by hand, if you don’t hear no noise then you you know...
Understood. I have 85k on mine and it has been tuned since around 15k. I had livernois first (no issues just wanted more) and then COBB at 36k. I’ve been running e50 or higher for over 20k miles.
Easy... Called COBB AP with custom Goosetune. You will then have better torque curve, hp, customizable throttle response, and transmission shifting vs stock Gen 2 or Gen 3.
I have a friend with Gen 3. My Gen 2 with custom stage 2 91 tune with TCM tune is much more refined and smoother power...
There is not another dealer flash post the FSA 21N03 that I am aware of or have seen on my Ford Pass App or otherwise. I wish COBB would send an email to make people aware of updates vs just checking for updates via the AP, which I tend to forget since I am not switching tunes very often...
Hopefully you have better luck with TSW rebuilds than I did. I did the shock exchange last year (fronts/rears) on my 2017 Gen 2. One of the fronts leaked on in the first 2 weeks - they replaced for free, but took >3 months to get the replacement.
One of the rear shocks was blown in <5,000...
@GooseTuned ran ethanol in his Gen 2 for a long time. He will have to chime in for total miles. I am not aware of him having any issues. I think the rate limiting supply to running ethanol in the Raptors is the High pressure fuel pump and obviously a tune (tuner, intercooler, etc), I suspect...
I put the XDI pump on my 2017 last year as well and your directions are great. The one thing I found lacking with the pump were the actual torque specifications from XDI. There is a pdf floating around on this site with directions concerning a non H.O. Eco boost and the torque settings are...
I have Goose 91 and E85 (use XDI pump on Winfield’s site). I think the custom tunes are much more smooth and linear in the power delivery with lower boost.
I ran e50 prior but got tired of mixing fuel vs buying E85 off the tap. The power between the two ethanol tunes seem very similar in...
I have a set of rebuilts from TSW for 2017/2018 sitting in a box in my garage too. One shock has 2500 miles and the other has 0 miles on it. I upgraded to Fox 3.0 race series. I have the eibachs to go with them too (they also have 2500 miles on them), if you are interested.
This. Mine was overfilled causing the passenger drive axle seal to leak (seep). I pulled the plug and drained the excess fluid. I think they are overfilled at the factory more often than we appreciate since most people probably never notice.
My guess is the dealership performed the non-Raptor TSB for intermittent grinding. Essentially they are bypassing the IWE system so your hubs are always engaged, this was the “fix” for non Raptors. Since we have Torsen fronts and driving modes it’s not recommended in Raptors.
If your IWE...
I have the HPFP on mine and run e85 a lot, but when driving long distances or going on trips I run 91/93. You do not need to switch pumps, just reflash off the COBB AP. The pump install is easy enough, just make sure you get the correct torque specs from XDI (HPFP Goose sells), otherwise it’s...
Just to add some closure.
The grinding on deceleration/turns was the wheel bearings. The front differential was overfilled and the drive axle seal was not changed, but the pinion seal was leaking and that had to be replaced. I went ahead and changed the fluid in both the front differential and...
