2017 with 82,000 miles. I was putting the winter tires on today and looked closer at the front drive axles and noticed the oil/grease drip.

I’m assuming bad seal? I have noticed what I feel is a low pitched “grind” on deceleration. I was attributing to the poorly wearing KO2s, but now I’m not so sure.

FYI. The IWEs have been bypassed in my truck so I know the “grind” is not do to the hubs actuating.

Thoughts?

So your front dif is spinning 100%, dang, that puts more wear and tear on the cv's and front diff. Looks like seals at least. Maybe you should jack up the front and spin the tires, see if the hubs are grinding(bearings) or if it is the cv's. Have you done a front dif service yet?

Did exactly that and no noise on turning the wheels.

I think they all weep a bit from factory depends if it’s a lot or a little, my 2020 had some weeping I noticed like within 5k miles or something & I just chalked it up to common & maybe overfilled front diff from factory, unless it’s as really seeping out wouldn’t worry….but the binding you mention would be of concern, could also just be wheel bearings

Just to add some closure.

The grinding on deceleration/turns was the wheel bearings. The front differential was overfilled and the drive axle seal was not changed, but the pinion seal was leaking and that had to be replaced. I went ahead and changed the fluid in both the front differential and transfer case.
