I was changing the oil today and looking things over as I do with every oil change and noticed a drip on the bottom side (see pics) of the timing chain gasket/cover area (?). It appears to be dry everywhere else in the engine bay and the plastic oil pan is clean/dry, so it's not coming from...
Same scenario as mine. IWE check valve replaced x 2 and came back, intermittent “grinding” requiring both hub assemblies being replaced at 48,000. I’m not holding my breath on the long term reliability on this truck. It’s a 2017. I’m hoping for 5 - 7 years out of it. Horn stopped working a...
I have a 2017 with 50,000 miles. I find the V6 3.5 HO to be durable enough and the overall truck quality to be average after coming from a Tacoma I drove for 18 years and only required normal maintenance.
Issues with the Raptor:
1. Bad hesitation with heavy acceleration - fixed with sp-542...
I had the exact same horrendous shifting and puking transmission fluid all over underneath the truck. This is on a 2017 Raptor as well.
I was leaking transmission fluid after the 'roll pin recall' repair and initially the dealership thought it was a bad transmission pan seal and a bad front...
They would do just fine. I spend a decent amount of time in Iowa on my parents farm doing just that. I’m driving through bean/corn fields and dirt/gravel roads. My favorite is jumping the small terraces, this is with the Nokians.
I would not be excited to navigate mud, but other than that I...

I bought mine through Discount Tire since they will tire match anyone. I run the stock size 315/70/17.
I could not agree more. In our constant <10 degree (Fahrenheit) temperatures and packed snow with ice covering all the roads the majority of winter a dedicated winter tire is hands down the best option for optimum stopping and turning capabilities. I run non-studded (studded illegal in MN) LT2...
I don't mind drifting/sliding either, but I do mind the other idiots around me jamming on their brakes or sliding through intersections. The ability to stop and turn with the Nokians vs the BF Goodrich's is beyond worth the tire change every winter.
I also run Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT2 non-studded (315/70/17) for the icy covered/snow packed roads of Minnesota. I can't speak to their "off road" worthiness but they are light years better than the stock BF Goodrich for winter driving...
I have a brand new (85 miles) polished set off my 2017. I put aftermarket on immediately. I am in SE MN and could meet you at your convenience. You can text me as well, just PM me for # and/or more info and pics.
No, I don't think moisture is causing this. I feel as if a knock sensor is attempting to retard the timing secondary to pinging or detonation in the engine. If correct I'd expect a colder plug to prevent detonation.
I may be off base, but $42 for 6 plugs and 10 minutes of time I am going...
Same. Mine were all pre-gapped to 0.028 and I left them as such. The originals I took out at 15,000 miles were still gapped at 0.030 and looked Like normal carbon build up.
I changed mine out due to stuttering/hesitation when under a heavy load at ~80 mph. For example coming up an incline...
Mine was replaced In January 2018 due to a leak in the transmission housing case where the transfer case bolts up. I too had the hard (slamming) 3-4-5 gears. It would get stuck in 7th every once in a while too.
It needed the housing replaced but it was on backorder for ~1 year.
It took...
131 on speedometer with Livernois 93 tune. I don’t recommend it. This was a touch of road rage on a flat forever interstate. V1 saved me. Lesson learned.
I didn't even have to ask. It was waiting for me as my Raptor was being towed into their service department. It had already been at their dealership once and another prior to this admission. I would have gone nuclear if they were not willing to help me.
Good luck!
I'm confused? You are $12k upside down on your current truck with $10k in cash for a down payment on a $70k truck? Seems to me you are cutting off your nose despite your face.
Basically you are giving Ford your truck (negative $12k + $71k truck = $83k Raptor). You will be equally/worse...
