Sounds like it works like most handhelds.
Any chance they offer a two-VIN option? That is, buy one tuner and tune two trucks with it...obviously at a premium, but for less than the cost of two.
If it has all the Raptor bits on it...it's a Raptor.
If I took all those parts off mine, it wouldn't be a Raptor.
Personally I wouldn't do emblems, but I sure as hell wouldn't be bothered if someone did. Now if a guy did Raptor wheels, tires, and *emblems* on a regular F-150 with a body...
Just noticed while washing the truck yesterday that this wiring loom hangs down below the frame rail and looks like it might be damaged easily. I remember hearing about someone damaging a wiring harness on an offroad excursion, guessing this is the one. This is on the left/driver-side frame...
I thought about the frame bit too. Common sense suggests longer is weaker, but you can't really conclude that. The crew might have another crossmember or more structure and actually be stronger...or not. The cab on the crew ought to be more rigid (three pillars vs. two). And then of course...
...and trade it in on a 6.2! (j/k)
I don't know how Fords work in this regard, but my best guess would be it gets overwritten. Not sure if Fords have separate programs for transmission and engine control....99-06 GM fullsizes had one shared program/calibration, but 07+ had separate...
Doh. Thought the regular F-150s were Vermillion Red, but you're right. Vermillion Red appears to be the same damn color, which is on 2010s...and is also offered on 2012s. Craziness.
Damn does that FX4 look good though.
This update fixed the damn annoying bug where Sync would need 3-5 minutes before it would respond to "non-generic" voice commands like "Play Artist Rush" or "Call John Smith". I believe the issue was only present previously due to the 7,000 tracks on my USB2 drive. It would say "Creating...
Saw this on F150online, figured I'd post it here:

There's a swatch of Race Red, thought I'm guessing that's one you'll need to see in person (if it's anything like Molten Orange, which of course was done no justice by...
It's done via browser plugin. You'll need a browser that can either do ActiveX or run Java Applets. Out of all the computers I have (which is too damn many) I have had to use a Mac with Safari to get the job done previously. Win7 users might want to try downloading the Java Plug-in from...
GM just redesigned the frame on their HD truck for 2010 or 2011. The frame had been carryover from the old body style "GMT800" HDs made from 2001 to 2009 or 2010. IIRC it's fully boxed now, but was not before. Think it's the first fully boxed HD frame. That's what they're advertising here...
I take it that works similarly to the JL Cleansweep, i.e., you pop in a test CD, and it brings any OEM equalization back to zero? I'd asked about the JL unit on my visit to Beach Autosound, guy there indicated the Ford units weren't doing enough to make it necessary, and that he generally only...
Thanks, anyone here made any progress on this front yet? Sorry I completely lost track of this thread. :) Still haven't done diddly-squat yet due to a sudden unforeseen motorcycle purchase which has thoroughly ruined the truck fund for a bit.
I don't actually want anything crazy loud, just...
Beware that this may be a scam. Have seen it done before. I'm not saying it's guaranteed to be one, but some dealers are actually that evil.
As a similar for-instance, friend of mine had a dealer give him a new contract the day after the deal, indicating specifically that it was the exact...
Completely agree, they absolutely should investigate it before taking any action. If it's within the realm of what a Raptor should do, they are most certainly obligated to correct it though.
On the one hand it may be that the run was obviously way too extreme. On the other it may turn out...
Twas really easy to format mine to FAT32 under Linux. Think it was right click on drive, select format, select FATness, press Ok. My Win7 box has more important things to do, like Portal2. :ROFLJest:
Assuming the wheels work at all, I'd guess the sizes would be 265/70R17 (very likely to fit, near 32" tires), or 285/70R17 (might be tight, near 33" tire)
A few more thoughts....
Someone needs to get SVT on the phone about this incident. Based on the description of what happened, Ford is on the hook to make people whole here. The trucks were being used as intended. There's an owners manual supplement that explains how to do it, and a...
Very curious to know more about what happened here. Is there any pattern whatsoever to the failures, I'd really be curious to know some of the following:
How many trucks went, how many were damaged?
Of the trucks that were damaged, were there variations in the degree of damage or in the...
Not talking about getting rid of the gap, just making it even. On every Raptor I've seen including my own the distance between the below-grille plastic fascia and the bumper gets larger toward the center of the truck. I do think it's necessary, bumper needs some space to move relative to body...
Looks good. Would look better if the gap between the front bumper and below-grille fascia were consistent. Every Raptor I've seen including my own has the issue, it's not a huge deal with contrasting colors but with both painted it looks really apparent.
Has anyone made an attempt to...
WOW. I'm going to guess the guy that designed that isn't familiar with the term "load path".
I guess we all knew it was only a matter of time. I haven't been on here much lately (certain two-wheeled things have been preventing me from using Raptor much). I'm hoping I didn't miss out on...
