Completely understand! I was going to wait out for an R but back in February when I ordered the TRX and 1) having uncertainty about whether the R would actually move to production 2) seeing that if it did, it would likely be limited production and have possibly significant dealer markups and 3)...
I’m critical of my vehicles. My Roush is in really, really good shape save the rust on that door. Frame is in great shape and the overall paint has been corrected recently with McGuires professional.
All,
It may be temporary, but I’m departing from Raptor ownership for the first time in five years. In full disclosure, I decided to try out a Ram TRX and placed a factory order on one (which includes some pretty steep discounts) several months ago. Otherwise, I was planning on running this...
I’m at 77k on a Level I package with pano roof; HK audio, running boards and tonneau cover. I too was awaiting the R but it made no sense after thinking about the (likely) price differential and availability.
The TRX seemed like a next step to the Gen I vs a Gen II or III EB. I’ll give a...
Completely agree. If OEM, I’m a turbo guy. Gen II + III EB were purpose built for forced induction with the block and rotating parts (6.2 SOHC was not) and it runs great. I can’t imagine someone jumping in a Gen I and Gen II with zero sound leaving the experience thinking and feeling the Gen I...
I should have been more clear. Closest thing to what most who desire an updated V8, Baja capable muscle truck that makes all the right sounds. I still think the Gen III EB is a more capable Baja runner, but I will be on-road 99+% of the time with some occasional off-road fun. Looking for a big...
Not sure why there is a caustic reaction from some to the Gen II (and III’s, to a lesser extent). Look at the objective comparison on paper with measurements such as hp/trq, weight, suspension, frame…
My 590+hp Stage II Roush (likely in the 625hp range) Gen I runs great for what it is. I also...
Definitely support the Wool Wax / Fluid Film recommendation. I’ve been spraying a coat on 2-3 times a year and it works some magic against preventing corrosion.
As Coronaraptor mentioned, the old intake, if not thoroughly cleaned, could have contained fragments from the previous failure. Many will outright replace the intake for precautionary purposes. The best to you though and hopefully it works out for the best!
I hate hearing this. Hopefully once someone opens her up it’s not catastrophic. I know these engines have experienced valves dropping but having this happen again sounds like really bad luck, especially given the low mileage on this setup.
FTO is correct, this engine was not designed for FI. Not sure if you are in a position to do so, but a Gen II may be a better route. My 2013 Roush has been great (approaching 150k, all supercharged). I also know that it could drop a valve, oil pump gear, rod failure or a number of other...
This is why I eventually wore out my patience on:
1) if/when the truck will actually be available
2) how attainable (availability) it will be
3) pricing
Pulled the trigger on a known, which is a ‘22 TRX (going from a 2013 Gen 1 Roush Raptor) which I got the mid-level package and 10k off MSRP...
Pricing to me is a wash with the dealer discount. How long they continue to offer 10k off MSRP, I do not know. I guess where I’m at with it is if I can get a 700hp SC V8 with a warranty for the same price as a Gen 3, I’m wading into the TRX waters. Is it possible I regret selling my Gen 1...
I ended up adding a couple additional options last minute to my TRX order. I just optioned out a 22’ Raptor on Ford.com as close as I could to mirror the TRX I ordered. What I do not know is if dealers are running below MSRP deals similar to the TRX (which there are still 3-4 running 9k, 10k off...
Keep a spare serpentine belt. The only issues I have ever had with my truck were on the previous tune from Roush where the 1-2 and 2-3 shift was extraordinarily harsh. It would jump the belt or rip the tensioner arm off altogether, I kid you not. It would occur any time a high torque high...
