The interior of the SD is NOT larger; it is the same. The cabs themselves are identical. I had a 2017 loaded Lariat diesel F-250 before my first Raptor. I had nothing but trouble with it (lots of minor issues) rode rough, much less capable offroad, harder to park, much higher maintenance...
Old truck was Leadfoot. I bought the silver one used with 15K on the clock and the OEM tires were very worn then. I ran 'em another 3K, probably could have made it to 20K, but was ready to make the change.
Awesome in the rain. You can hear them at highway speeds if you have the radio off, but they are the quietest mud tires I've ever run by far. It is not a loud noise though. Definitely more quiet than KM3s, about like a Duratrac. We'll see when they get worn if they get louder - right now...
I finally got mine off in some deep, wet, red clay mud this am at the Sporting Clays Club in a cleared, bulldozed section where they are building a trap field. Although not gunning it, I had zero wheelspin even making a sharp turn. I would probably have gotten stock with the OEM tires. These...
I agree - If you have to have a hybrid, go with the Duratracs. I've had both. When new, the RG are more quiet, but after 40K, they got as noisy as a MT.
They were one of the worst tires I've ever run in deep soft sand. Everything else they did OK in, although I never tried them in soupy mud - figured I'd get stuck. They do most things well, but since I do go to the Outer Banks I will never run them again. Since the RGs, I have run KM3s...
That's one of the problems with larger wheels - they are usually wider. Another is that they are more susceptible to curb damage with less sidewall, not to mention the offroad concerns.
RGs are meh...go to Southern Offroad in Cumming and have some real tires mounted - like the Yokohama Geolander MTs, much more aggressive and quiet also. I've had BFGs ATs, RGs, KM3s on my Raptors, and none of those are as good.
It is a known issue with the 2018s and maybe 2017s. I got a letter also from Ford, but it was for my Leadfoot Grey 2018. I traded that in for a silver late 2018 and I haven't had a problem with that one yet, or received a letter on it.
