Am I crazy? MPG on “Crap gas”

Absolutely true! On an I-80 trip to Incline Village, NV in March of this year I was bucking a 30 mph headwind and got 13 mpg with my GEN1. Three weeks later on the same trip, same route, same cruise control setting, same load, and same fuel (Sinclair midgrade bought at the same station) I got...

    WWJD? Cooling upgrade?

With over 100K on the truck in question, @Sunchild714 has a good idea - clean the bugs and debris out of the existing radiator and see if it solves or mitigates the problem. I have not used a pressure washer to do it and would be hesitant to do so, but using one of those spray window washing...

How to Lower the Rear Seat Backs

On a GEN1, yes. There is no convenient way to do it. If you're installing sound insulation and are going to disassemble things to do it, then fine. But a quickie to make room to transport something bulky that can't go in the truck bed? No.

    Racking up my body count

The crickets are crunchy and good with catsup, but you have to be sure to cook them well. :D

    Racking up my body count

"They're baaaaaack!" They're ugly, they stink, they s h i t all over, they're ugly, their dead bodies are slick on the road and cause accidents, they're ugly, and the cleanup inside the wheel wells is *&@!% disgusting. Did I mention that they're ugly? Too ugly to be from Planet Earth. They're...

    Racking up my body count

This is what we're dealing with now in northern Nevada. Cleanup after these events is ghastly.

Has anyone replaced their Oil Cooler?

That's an oil cooler? I've wondered if that was its intended function. Damn small cooling fins if it's an oil cooler. Does it perform another function, maybe?

    Battery draining overnight 2022

You likely have a short. I had one a couple of years ago, and tracked the problem to dust contamination in the electrical socket on the trailer hitch. A blast of compressed air solved the problem, and now I check that every so often. If you have electrical accessories installed as most of us...

What did u do to your raptor today?

It might be surprising, but there are some dedicated fishermen here in the high desert of northern Nevada. The local newspaper dedicates a whole page to the local fishing conditions, but I have never read or heard that someone was using these shell-backed katydids (Mormon crickets are not true...

What did u do to your raptor today?

Today I was inspired to do something with Armor All that I've never done before. I coated the wheel well liners and mud flaps with it. Why? Bugs. Big ones. Big religious hopping eat-everything-in-their-way hoards of them: Mormon Crickets. They've hatched. Again. It's a stinking, messy...

    Phone mount

I rolled my own. I don't like that the cupholder approach keeps you from using a cupholder for anything (WeatherTech), so I took a steel can, riveted a piece of mild steel to it, and then used 3M double-sticky mounting tape to fix a phone holder of my choice to that piece of steel. I put the...

    Smoked Headlights

If you own a Raptor R, why are you worried about aesthetics? Function should be your concern, and what you are contemplating is reducing the effectiveness of your headlights. You will likely spend several thousand on off-road lights after having spent several hundred to make your headlights...

What's next for Ford Raptor now that Ram came out with the RHO?

If Ford ever builds it, that'll be my decision to make at that time. I won't need anyone's advice.

What's next for Ford Raptor now that Ram came out with the RHO?

6.7L V8, ceramic engine block, direct injection, electric PS and AC, naturally aspirated with a supercharger option. I'd buy it.

    Horn Upgrade to PIAA 85115

You know how you go faster the louder the radio is turned up? Works with horns, too.

    B&M transmission dipstick

It's good if you like to check your transmission fluid once in a while. It's really good if you do your own work and service your transmission yourself. It's cosmically awesome if you don't like burned knuckles.

GEN 1 Mystery Dash Reading - What IS this?

Douglas Adams had the inside track on this. In Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy he posited a switch on an advanced one-of-a-kind starship that had a sign that read, "Do not touch this switch." When the protagonist of the story flipped the switch a little screen activated. It read, "Do not touch...

GEN 1 Mystery Dash Reading - What IS this?

THANK YOU! That worked. It sure takes a very fast stab on that button, though. 13 years and over 100,000 miles. This is the first time that's happened, and I don't know why it happened. Thanks again!

GEN 1 Mystery Dash Reading - What IS this?

This just appeared on my 2011 SCAB. Trip A has this yellow rectangle with odd symbol on the left superimposed on the normal screen. Trip B is normal. What does this mean and how do I get rid of it, Please?

2 Different brands of fog lights

I have not owned a Rigid product. However given what has been written about them on FRF, yes I would recommend DD products over Rigid products. DD has exceptional customer support. I had trouble with their LED replacements for the front side markers. They kept burning out. I called the...

2 Different brands of fog lights

Diode Dynamics also has backlit fog lamps. Their quality exceeds that of Rigid (which has quality and customer service problems that are well documented here on FRF), and they are priced quite a bit better than BD. I have one pair of DD fogs and they are excellent.

    Windshield cracked upper corner

Not to my knowledge. The chip repair relies on sucking the air out of the site, and the resultant vacuum draws the repair substance into the fracture. I don't think there is a way to suck the air out of a crack.
