3m adhesive remover... available at most hardware stores... Lowes, home depot, OSH Spray it on a cool surface in the shade. Let sit about 2 to 3 minutes and you will see it start to gum up. Apply 3m remover to terry cloth towel and rub the area effected. Do not rub like crazy let the product...

Spacers are a bad idea simply because of the physics involved... As you move out the spacer acts as a lever against the wheel bearings. The farther out you go the worse it gets. I know whats 1/4 inch among friends but it matters a great deal, more than you realize. Just think with a big enough...
