    Aluminum isn't strong?

for once you are correct, but that what iron is by just being iron. And, I think you glutton for punishment ............................:)

    Aluminum isn't strong?

Actually Iron by itself is brittle, it needs forging or alloying to be useful in todays application. Steel can be an alloy steel, but steel is made by blowing oxygen in to molten iron to burn most of the carbon.

Achieving 406 ft/lbs on lower shock nut

I was overseas and in need of a 3/4 drive hydraulic wrench. We rented one from a local supplier, we got a brand new unit. After the job was completed I offered to buy it if the rental cost was deducted from the price.

    Pinch welds

I don't like to cut, so you have to drive the metal. First off, clean everything. After that use a rounded chisel and start hitting every halve inch; after you get to the top start over with a quarter inch offset and again every halve inch. And again offset in between... You will end up with...

What did u do to your raptor today?

Cleaned off the dead bugs from all the front facing surfaces on my truck from a Wednesday drive down to Alameda, CA, after California rain softened them up today. Rain in California?... I have enough of that in Oregon, I really don't need it working in California...

GEN 1 Nasty pop from driver's side front wheel area in four wheel drive (still)

Well, hat particular bolt is relying on clamping force, and therefore needs a high preload. As to your problem: the diff is on the left, your noise is on the left; if the diff mounting bolts are loose it will shift under changing loads. If the diff is locking up it will cause the a windup and...

GEN 1 Nasty pop from driver's side front wheel area in four wheel drive (still)

Sorry that you still have the problem, but could you elaborate on the 'torqued to ridiculous numbers' Oh, I forgot, have them check the front diff, it is likely locking up. Or you could just have a loose pivot on the lower control arm.

What are the best ways to clean a raptor?

I had my reasons for ordering a silver truck, it can be filthy but from 10' away looks great! The truck pushes through the brush in Oregon all the time and is pinstriped from front to rear, but from 10' away looks great! I fount a carwash that will take my truck and I take it there for quick...
