I'm not twisted up at all.
My overarching point is that the situation is not binary: there are more choices besides "omg communism" and "capitalism or death".
It is also not just simply about sales price, as there are many variables in the relationship between an auto manufacturer and it's...
Why does everyone keep bringing up the Gen 2 Recaro seats? They are not comparable, and the entire cabin design is different, too.
Gen 2:
Gen 3:
It is hard to tell with the lighting, but it not clear to me that the blues are even the same color between G2 and G3.
And on the G3s...
I believe that customer orders are generally prioritized for production, and dealers have little or no control over when they receive stock inventory... so it wouldn't make much sense for them to "hold" an allocation for a vehicle to put on the lot.
All depends on demand. Every order burns an allocation. A dealer won't burn a spot on someone paying $500 over invoice when someone else will pay MSRP.
Doubt that happens (widespread at least) until at least end of 2022, given the almost-certain lower volumes of Raptors produced this year.
You also have a considerable amount of time/miles after purchase to add an extended warranty... it does not have to be done at time of purchase.
Gives you time to drive the thing, make sure you want to keep it around for awhile before plunking down a few extra $k.
The warranty is...
Will state with high degree of confidence that if they are pressuring you to agree to terms before order banks are even open..
.. then it's not a good deal.
How is it a slippery slope?
You're making a huge leap going from a company (private entity) setting prices to the government setting prices. Vastly different, and in no way connected.
100% wrong. See guidance below from FTC.
A manufacturer can mandate whatever it wants to its dealers regarding price, sale territory, etc, as long as the mandates are reasonable.
Manufacturers can also terminate relationships with dealers who do not follow their policies.
Ford's relations...
Not true. Ford can and should crack down on ADM.
Preventing price-gouging and controlling your brand is not socialism.
Think about when a new gaming console is released, or about the hot Christmas toy. Can Best Buy unilaterally decide to mark up a Playstation 25% over MSRP just because it's...
Apple Ford in Baltimore?
Surprising to hear. They sold me my loaded Gen 1 in 2013 for $500 over invoice, when most were still marking over MSRP. I flew in to buy it from them.
Guess things have changed.
Curious to see what it'll look like in the ford.com configurator.
Hell, I don't even like the fact that the shocks on this truck will be orange.. vastly prefer neutral, like silver on the TRX. Blue on Gen 1 wasn't terrible, don't know what Gen 2 is.
I dunno, my friend. Could you really look at this every time you had to turn around?
I bet it looks even more ridiculous in true daylight.
And then this one, showcasing all the colors/materials of the cabin in one glorious shot -
Blue leather, blue suede, orange stitching, brushed...
In normal times, I'd agree with you. These are not normal times.
Prices are out of control, and people want to spend, spend, spend.
I wonder what the upper limit is, and I wonder if the Raptor (especially R) and TRX will even really "compete" in a sense.
The real question is: how many folks...
Maybe the dealers are anticipating order banks opening simultaneously with the launch of the configurator on May 10?
But isn't it irrelevant whether it's tomorrow or June 30, given that Ford's official order guide states production won't start until at least July 6?
I meant too late to add a different color Recaro interior, not to remove them entirely.
As for hurting the brand, which scenario will cause more damage:
- Having 100% of your fully-loaded vehicles in one, very polarizing, widely-disliked interior
or
- Offering two interior options on the...
You're probably right, and at this point, I'm sure it's way too late for Ford to change it for 2021 even if they wanted to.
Still, the customer base can and should be vocal about issues like this.
And yes, I know why they bundled it with the 37s, but it's not like they couldn't have made a...
Good points.
FYI, the base Gen 3 is about 600 lbs lighter than the TRX.
The Raptor R engine will undoubtedly be heavier, which will cut into the number a bit.. so let's say, 400 lbs lighter?
Still a significant chunk of weight that the TRX has to carry around that the R won't.
I don't think...
Great point. The main thing about that design that doesn't seem realistic is changing up the headlights that much. That would be expensive and probably unnecessary from Ford's point of view.
Could definitely go for some more aggressive body lines around the housing, though.
