Man…if I go down the road of freshening the suspension since I have both rears buzzing regularly now w/ 79k miles & throw on rebuilt live valves only to have them still continue to buzz & not work correctly I’ll be really pissed.
It doesn’t seem like there’s anyone w/ the live valve shocks that...
Input is stop driving it like that dude, if you’re serious about driving strictly in manual mode for “only” 20k miles….thats a helluva a lot of wear/tear on the TC & clutch packs…could be something simple like solenoid but if you’re under warranty why even F around at all? Bring it in asap get...
Sounds like you’re using a performance 1/2 ton truck as a 3/4 ton diesel work truck & this is the end result, lots of people do towing/hauling w/ these w/o issue…..how much weight are we talking about & how often?
Were any of the engine replacements under warranty? I imagine yes or otherwise...
I think I put Amsoil 75w90 in mine, works fine, the front diff I went w/ factory fluid it’s also very hard to swap so had dealer do, you’d be fine w/ that gear oil
This is odd…I literally am
In the business of making aluminum for auto parts, bare raw cast Al will oxidize/pit faster than machined/polished cast Al, but I doubt these are built w/ secondary cast alloys, I imagine they’re extruded or machined from billet- usually a 6xxx or 7xxx alloy...
What’s the upside w/ TSW top hats? Why not re-use the stock stuff? I’m in the early stages of planning a full suspension refresh on my ‘20 w/ 79k miles…def having the stock live valves swapped for rebuilds, & since I regularly have 2 dogs & 2 kids & a bunch of gear in truck and/or long road...
Whatever was the result? Mine are buzzing in rear both sides I’m probably due for rebuild w/ 79k miles…when they rebuild do they also address the solenoids?
Have a ‘20 w/ 78k miles & shocks are def in need of rebuild- in fact they’re reminding me every day on cold starts now both rear shock solenoids are buzzing. TBH…ride quality isn’t that bad, but I know it’s not what it was when new & will only get worse. W/ my tonneau/small toolbox & misc stuff...
100% they know it look at the GT lol! Plus they obviously neutered the “real” torque available w/ the Gen2s, plus we all have been guinea pigs in a sense tuning these trucks & going hard on em, there are people w/ 150-200k miles tuned on these engines….hell I’m almost @ 80k on mine & haven’t...
100% that’s similar (or less) to what people are charging for custom tunes on these trucks anyhow…custom tunes that void the warranty! Its cool that ford did this
I’m currently in a ‘20 def interested in a gen3 but hoping to get the last model year of this gen, guess that’ll be either a ‘25 or ‘26, also hoping we can tune them (all years) by then- have 78k miles on my ‘20 right now & it’s been absolutely flawless….i think that has a lot to do w/ being a...
Correct that’s exactly what I have- has 2 tone grey/black perforated leather seats. And proper key!! Has the big infotainment screen & digital gauges & Apple CarPlay too. Everything I need nothing I don’t (including the pano roof I’m glad I don’t have on my ‘20 that I did have on my ‘18)
Yeah & for that $$$ vs the $4k that Alcons cost (+ the fact you do need to do some modifications to make the alcons fit) I think the will wood kit you did is a better option if you wanted to go the route of a true BBK
Interesting, curious what was the cost? I’m gonna be 10000% honest here & just say that the review you gave of that will wood setup could be entirely transposed into my own experience “upgrading” the OEM brakes w/ power stop Z36 truck/tow kit- definitely not fancy 6 piston calipers, but I’m...
powerstop Z36 truck/tow brake package & call it a day. Got 67k out of my OEM brakes, but they were @ 10% life left & I was getting some shimmy w/ light braking @ highway speed. If you wait too long may need to replace the calipers too ;-) That powerstop kit does offer an option to replace the...
I think “reliability” on the early Gen3’s needs to account for Covid era build quality, but the formula hasn’t changed much mechanically from the gen2, that being said just hit 77k miles on my ‘20 gen2 I bought brand new & I’ve had ZERO issues. Been a little ahead of the curve on preventative...
So my truck eclipsed 75k on a 1550-1600 mile road trip about 1350-1400 of which was hauling 900 lbs 2 dobies 2 kids + tool box tonneau & gear + misc stuff & towing a twin Yamaha waverunner trailer that w/ both fully fueld machines (VX & FX HO’s) weighs in around 2300-2500 lbs best guess
All in...
My gen2 has 75k miles on it now…so far I’ve done the following & the mileage ranges for interval between changes is just my own guideline I can’t recall what the manual recommends for all of them:
Front diff 2x by dealer every 35-50k
Rear diff 2x by myself & swapped cover out for ford...
Yeah 100% replace the plugs, how many miles? You tuned or stock? What type of fuel do you typically run? I think it’s a good idea to replace plugs on these EB engine every 40-50k miles, depending on mileage may also make sense to swap plug wires or even ignition coils (less likely those would...
