Good observations.
I got some feedback from them about the knobs, in particular as to why both knobs have a power button icon on them. They said that the knobs will be "user assigned", meaning that you can program them to things like volume, tune, seek, fan speed, temp. The power button icon...
Did you guys see that Phoenix is releasing a pre-order 13" (1600x1200) Android 9/10 with their version of the physical HVAC controls for the F150? Expected release date is March or April of this year.
A few things I noticed:
* The unit comes with their hard button controls/dials for HVAC.
*...
Yeah, there is a PX6 Fastboot for our F150's, but the only benefit I would say is that the tablet is already on when you turn on the ignition. I previously had the PX6 standard, and was having issues with a slow booting tablet (which seemed to be dependent on the temperature of the unit). The...
Very interested in hearing your feedback, specifically for these issues:
Disconnecting from BT phone call reverts back to SYNC radio:
The issue is when you're streaming music through the tablet, and then receive a BT phone call in SYNC. Once you disconnect from the phone call, the software...
I wasn't that comfortable taking it apart and getting it aligned correctly, so I had a local shop take care of it.
They really did a good job with the flat top and bottom. The bottom flat length is longer than the top flat length, and also the transition from the curved part of the wheel to...
Yeah, it's the Phoenix Android screen.
Basically an Android tablet with a custom trim that fits into the console. The 3 buttons get relocated to the top, and you lose the physical volume and tune dials, and they become digital or you can use your steering wheel controls.
After sitting in my garage for about a month, I finally got around to getting the Carbon Cartel wheel installed.
I chose the flat top and flat bottom wheel, but decided against getting the carbon trim insert. Didn't like the look when you have 2 mismatched carbon fiber pieces next to each...
That USB control knob sounds interesting. Do you have a picture to show how you integrated it into the console?
Regarding the long boot times, my tablet is starting to have the same issue. When I first get into the truck, it starts up to a messed up Sync3 screen that isn't responsive to any...
I tried messing around with the stock images, and wasn't able to change any of those white raptor images either - was only able to change the boot image.
If you decide to install Nova Launcher, you'll forget about all that since you never see it again.
Not really sure how to get the version numbers out of this update. I've done a few simplecanbus updates and unfortunately I've never seen them use filenames with version numbers either.
There are 2 types of updates that they put out - canbus and PX6.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I...
You can try this canbus update if you'd like. I got it on 11/30/19 and was told that it fixed the steering wheel control skipping for certain apps. The apps I use (pandora, BT music) never really had a problem, so I didn't notice a difference but this might work for you...
Wow! That's all I needed to see. It looks fantastic. Thanks for taking the time to put that up. I sent an email to the guy, so hopefully he responds and can help me out.
So with this modification, do you get more map real estate on waze or google maps, or does it replace it with a black bar (like a letterbox effect)? Also, does the Sync3 passthrough image become larger, justify itself to the top of the tablet screen, or is there a black bar to keep the sync3...
I've also had that happen occasionally. I usually just leave it alone, and the tablet seems to come back online after a minute or so. I'm not so sure it's triggered by how long the truck sits around because I've had it happen even when it was just half a day.
I just tested this out on my unit, and it seems to switch OK.
Tested it by doing the following:
1. closed out all apps running in the background.
2. opened up console - played a local radio station
3. pressed HOME - bottom left tablet screen
4. opened up Pandora - from Nova Launcher home...
Having trouble getting the "OK GOOGLE" to work.
I was able to make the change in the Nova Settings, but where do you check to make sure OK google integration is turned on?
Yes, the canbus box the small red translucent plastic box, and you shouldn't have to reset the system after changing it out. I'm not sure how they plan to roll out the new boxes to folks, but it's worth a phone call to them to figure out how to get one.
Also there was a software update that...
Nice video Gtibbot.
I just wanted to add that under the SETTINGS menu, there's a menu choice on the left side called APP CUSTOMIZE. That allows you to select 1 of your apps to put on the top menu. In the video, I noticed that you currently don't have anything selected, so your top menu icon...
Helped them test out the new canbus boxes over the weekend. There were 3 to choose from and after listening to all 3, there was only 1 that stood out as being significantly better than the others. The other 2 boxes all had signs of having too much gain and causing that distorted crackle sound...
Another thing to add regarding choosing to use AA (or Carplay) vs the built-in apps on the tablet would be the data connection. AA already has the data connection through your phone and just displays it on the tablet which is nice and tidy, vs the built-in apps need a wifi hotspot to get full...
To answer the question about the location of the buttons (hazard, camera, autostart/stop), they're relocated to the top of the unit, like in this picture.
You can still run Android Auto (AA) through Sync3 and don't have to pay for anything, but Sync3 is formatted to only use the top 1/2 of...
