I got a notification from Ford today for CSP 20N03; apparently there is an issue with the tailgate opening unexpectedly?

it looks to be a water intrusion into the wiring issue and we get a warranty through 150k miles or 4/3/2030 whichever comes first.

First I’ve seen chatter on this.

I got the same notice. I don't think I've ever seen this done as extra warranty period vs an actual recall.

yeah, I have seen this more than once. My Ducati had one or 2, wife’s previous car had one on a transmission.

I got this also, can't we just tape the harness a little tighter? I'm curious where the water is supposedly getting in, probably where it wraps through the hinge area?

Got same notice. I’ve never had a problem.

but reminded me of my buddy who got his Maserati lemon law’ed because the trunk kept opening and the dealer could not fix it! :)

Sadly, I know exactly what this about: My wife opened the garage door to a sickening noise. Turns out the tailgate self deployed and was leaning into the metal garage door when she opened it. This resulted in serious little nicks in the paint (about 4 of them) caused by the garage door going up while the tailgate leaned against it. Off to the dealer I go (and it was so much to be there for the cam phaser recall, so I'm going to have them look at refastening the fender flares that were apparently removed when they did the Cam Phaser recall work).

I had my tailgate open on me once but I just assumed I hadn’t closed it properly. My driveway is a hill so when it’s unlatched it doesn’t actually open until you are on a flat or pull on it a little bit. I didn’t notice it was down until I got to the store.

Recall is to install jumper harness in connector on left frame rail by bumper and replace tailgate switch.Recall is for all f150s and super dutys with power lock tailgate! Simple fix done 8 so far.May need to drop spare so make sure you can remove spare lock, they freeze up and are a pain to remove!!!

I just received the letter in the mail today from Ford.

Is it worth getting updated if your considering going to the switch #6 Tailgate release kit available on this site?
