Finally got around to doing this mod, it warmed up enough outside. raptor209 and hitmix covered it pretty well so I wont go into the details. I ordered from Glowhut also. I did get a few more pics of the side vents off and the clips that hold them, for anyone looking to remove, its very simple. I hooked them up to auxiliary 4, Im sure its not legal in the great ol state of NY, so I can kill them at will.

I like it, not sure if Im going to keep the remaining tape in the vent lit, I may black it out with some electrical tape. Heres the pics...

I did end up electric taping off the unseen part, I like it much better

Over time what has happened is the strips have faded from the sun so what Ive done is bought brake light repair tape to fit over the el tape. Its a good little fix and when it fades you just replace it with new ones. The new red el tape from glowhut has a neon orange look to it, great for molten orange owners but you will need to do the brake light tape trick to get a true red. With this technique you can get any color you want by buying the white el tape and covering it with the color of your choice.

Over time what has happened is the strips have faded from the sun so what Ive done is bought a cheap red plastic folder from target and cut strips to fit over the el tape. Looks great! Can you give me details, like what you did for power, did you need a ac to dc converter?

I just saw this, and it is awesome. Good call on taping over the excess looks much more clean. I was wondering what you bought from glow hut, i saw the tape, but def need more info on which power source...etc. also haven't done any wiring wonder if you could snap a quick pic of that. Great work though, really impressed with the results.

Heres exactly what I ordered - sorry the links didnt really work.

1 - EL red tape with 12v El converter - Home

1 - EL red tape - Home

1 - 3 way splitter - Home

1 - EL wire accessories - you need to extend the drivers side wire to reach the el tape. I used 18g speaker wire and these quick connects - Home

I could reach the passenger side with the quick disconnect but had to extend the wire to reach the drivers side. theres a great little channel to run the wire through up by the firewall, its part of the plastic hood vent piece bellow your wipers.

I don't want mine run to the AUX switches since mine are all utilized -- so I wonder if I can tap into the parking lights or LED markers...

You definitely can bro. Back in the original thread some ppl did.

I need to order new strips, got a mold or something growing in them over the winter. Second time its happened, FYI, but for 15 bucks who cares.
