It's gonna take a day or three to get the pics and vids on here, but I had an awesome day in the trails today. We got about a mile into the trails, then spent almost 3 hours turning 7 trucks around to go back out as conditions just were not permissable. (we gave it a helluva shot though, I burned over $40.00 of gas to get that mile, and the mile back out.)
This was a part of McLean Creek, and the areas we were on are basically a bunny trail do-able in 2wd in summer. Spring, however, based on the record breaking snow we had this year - is another story.
Here's a few teasers - my video crapped out when needed at my pull out points or hill climbs - but others took some pics and vids and I hope to liberate them for this post in the next few days. I've got some cleaning to do Sunday...
I finally got the bitch stuck... Had a two foot tall shelf in front that I had to get a tug from a Ranger to get over. I tried it 6 or 7 times, but the last time I bounced off the brick wall so hard my back right tire got air.
I really learned a lot about the Raptor today - and will probably add to the Trails post. Namely, when the stock tires encounter real mud - air down and hope for the best. There was a stock Nissan Pathfinder that was getting through things effortlessly, that I had to really work at.
At times, things were stressful with 300 foot mountain drop offs that I had to hang a slippery tire on because the Raptors ass is too fat. But the only damage all day was paint scrapes due to tree branches and one stubborn turn-around that I almost didn't make it out of.
More later.
