Intercooler condensation

before you spout about water and **** injection learn how it works. first of all its a metered precise amount. Along with the ****/water you inject, you must also increase boost and/or timing...or guess what? you get a misfire/hesitation.
when you have condensation in your intercooler like the op, there is no way to know when it will decide to ingest, so what do you get? a misfire/hesitation.
That amount would never hydro the motor, but it WILL run rough and kill plugs prematurely. ignorance is bliss i guess

I know plenty about **** injection. Used it for many years on other applications. And no, you most certainly do not have to increase boost or timing to run it. A ton of people run it as a safety net without increasing boost or timing. Yes, you can increase boost and or timing if you know it is going to be there, but not a requirement.

And with the minuscule amount of water shown here, I doubt the engine would suck it in unless its under a good amount of load- in which case, it would most likely be making boost at that point anyway.

That much water will do NOTHJNG harmful. I've boosted several cars over the years (BMW M3, miata, mustang) and once used water injection to cool the charge- it literally sprayed water into the intake under boost. No issues.

The injection systems are METERED. The condensate buildup is a slug of water forced through under acceleration... blows out spark. Welcome to the ecoboost life.

Not really metered. High pressure pump sprays when a preset boost amount is hit. It's actually beneficial as it cleans your engine and prevents carbon buildup.

The reality is that compressing air create two byproducts- heat and water. The IC removes much of the heat and may collect a bit of water which does nothing harmful. As it travels from the turbos through the ic and all that piping it's going to be delivered into the engine in very small amounts. Ford has sold 1.3 million ecoboost engines globally. If this was a known problem 1. More people would be talking about it and 2. Ford would have fixed it since they started building the ecoboost 8 years ago.

Anyone telling you otherwise is trying to get a rise out of people.

Don't know if i'm all about the red ADD logo....didn't know that was going to be there.

They put their name on everything. Paint it. When I bought my first set of bumpers for my G1 I specifically asked for no logos as they told me it was an option. Low and behold they had logos. They were nice enough to offer new bumpers if I was willing to wait another 6-8 weeks lol. I eventually upgraded to @svc anyways but I was still a little upset with the way they handled it.

Just get the Full Race version. Same price, no logo.

Actually, if you are planning on keeping your stock BOV, the Full Race one is cheaper as thats the standard configuration with them. With ADD, they upcharge $50 for that for some odd reason. I asked them about it, but got no answer. :crazy:

I have to say ADD was awesome to work with, Cole over there was super helpful. I first ordered the Stealth R and after looking at it more decided to go with the Race series r and then needed the intercooler which I wanted anyways, I think it will help a lot with the hot weather here and tuning. No upcharge for the e bov - I think that's just on their site. I don't mind some small logos and such but big bright stuff is not my style. The skip plate has a pretty big race logo, thinking I will cut a slab of aluminum to replace their skip plate and leave it raw.

The fact is that it IS an issue on the ecoboost engine. This is the reason everyone has drilled the weep hole... which causes no problems, and solved the condensate problem
