Step By Step BedRug Install

Was a nice South Florida day here so I decided to install a new BedRug in the Project Raptor.

First off, this thing fit perfect, high quality, well packaged, and had very easy to follow directions.

The only tool that I needed was a razor blade.

Here is what we started with.

First step was to lay out all the pieces in the kit and read the instructions once(which I hardly ever do and always regret)

Next step is the zip the side panel on to the bed floor and then install the provided 3M velcro.

Finally flip over the cover, lay in the bed, get it lined up in the corners and start peeling the tape from the velcro. Make sure the bed area is clean and wiped of all dust and debris to ensure good adhesion of the velcro strips.

Looks super easy, how long did it take you? 15 minutes?

When I get my truck I will definitely be getting one of these.

It could totally be done in 15 minutes if you really wanted to do it. I took me an hour but I scrubbed the bed down and made sure it was all clean. Plus I had a few distractions and maybe an adult beverage.

must have been missing a few pages of the instructions lol.

You didn't post about the tailgate piece. That plastic panel comes off with a few torx screws, and the bedrug wraps around the top edge, then the bolts go back in, and it zips onto the bed piece.

Also you forgot to mention about the tie-downs. The best way to do those is remove the tiedown, and reinstall the bolts 1/2 way. Install the bedrug, then go back and feel where the bolts are. Cut an "X" with a razor blade over each bolt head and pop the bedrug over the bolt head. Undo 1 bolt at a time and put the tiedown back on. Then the tiedowns bolted back in over the bedrug help further secure it, and it'll be a perfect fit.

My 2 cents, definitely install it. It really ties the whole thing together. The plastic piece still remains underneath so it has the added protection of that, but it really finishes the look off. And you can always remove it later down the road, but I think you'll like it installed.

If you didn't put the tiedowns back in, you can try to poke around with an awe to find the holes, but your best bet is just peel the bedrug back and install the bolts 1/2 way, then feel back for the bolt heads and cut an X over top and pop the bolts through. Just becareful because the bedrug velcro is so strong a lot of time the hooks and loops will break when you unvelcro it.
