So we sell both ZROADZ and Baja Designs.


ZROADZ is a sister brand to T-Rex Grilles, a well known company.

Baja Designs is by the far the best quality light i've ever seen/sold. They are the #1 product I'd recommend to anybody. However they do cost a bit. So if you are on a budget ZROADZ makes some nice packages. I'd place them just below the quality of Rigid and Baja Designs, since it's a bar you've all seen before. That famous "chinese bar style" that everybody knows too well. Only it's a higher quality then your $50 chinese bar because they take the time to seal things up better of course and put in quality optics.

So it's a great system and we have packages available for the Raptors. But if you have the $$ and want something that is well known/well supported, Baja is what I'd recommend.

Regarding light colors. Baja Designs uses 5000k for their color temp. They chose this because in racing it's less demanding on the eyes. Baja Designs comes from a Baja racing background, thus their products were originally designed for baja racers (duh). They found 5000K didn't fatique drivers as much as 6000K which is what you find in ZROADZ and other brands.

We sell our own brand of LED Conversion Kits, CrystaLux and when you compare the color temps of our lights to Baja Designs you do see a difference WHEN you stare directly into the lights. However when shown down road you can't really tell. SURE you do see it a bit but the lights are so bright it doesn't matter. The 5000K temp actually does better in bad weather then a 6000K or 6500K light bar.

zRoadz

Zroadz 40 bar looks sweet! How do the LED brightness & color match against the OEM headlights? I think Zroadz is 6000k color (same as OEM headlights). It’s one reason why I’m hesitant about BD (5600k) and Rigid (6500k) because they’re not exact matches. Also, what do you think of the overall product quality? I’ve called around various shops in the Dallas TX area and no one has heard of Zroadz and all point me to BD.

I’m thinking about Zroadz’ two 6” bars behind the grill, 40” bar on top of the stock bumper, and 10” bar behind the grill in the stock bumper.

Hi, I haven't taken a kelvin measure of the zRoadz LEDs. My guess would be around 5000-6000 kelvins. To my eye, I would guess the ZRoads to be around 500 kelvins in blue shift compared to the trucks headlights, but they are very close. I think the design and finish of their custom brackets are excellent. The lights themselves are great. However, I feel like the majority of the LEDs and lights out there are made by a handful of manufactures and are simply rebranded by the majority of the vendors. I cross checked on Ebay, and it seems like a lot of other vendors have 3", 6" and 40" curved light bars that look identical at half the price? With the exception of the light bar, their wiring kits were useless as they included relay switches and fuses which are not needed on the Raptor since we have factory fused up-fitter switches. I had to pretty much make my own or modify the zRoadz harnesses. More details on my thread.

Thank you very much! I appreciate your opinion as an actual customer. Knowing after-market lights won't be an exact match, I would prefer more blue than yellow beam color; hence why I lean towards ZROADZ or Rigid vs. BD. But I'm having a tough time justifying Rigid price tag. If it's not too much trouble, would you mind sharing some night time photos comparing your OEM headlights and ZROADZ lights? Thanks again!

I replied to your email but for those curious... Baja Designs lights are not as "amber" as you may think in the 5000K temperature. Here are some photos of our demo truck, taken from our surveillance camera:

No lights on just our CrystaLux headlights (6500K)

So you can see even from a surveillance camera you don't really have any blue spectrum or amber spectrum. It's still a white light.

What switch do you use for the 50" ONX6?

On the BD website, it says they draw 26.25A but the Aux1 and 2 switches on the raptor are rated for 15A?

You can't hookup a 50" OnX6 and run power through the upfitters. You'll need to install a relay and use the upfitter to toggle the relay. All my upfitters go to a custom distribution/fuse panel I have
