Has anyone used Wurth Aerosol High-Build Underseal to paint the rear fender wells? I found one old post in the Gen1 forum that said “it was good”. I’m just curious how well it holds up, does it dry hard so that it can be washed like linex.

I am not interested in liners, or classic petroleum based underseal.
Linex shops in my area either don’t do linex in the fender well because they can’t rough up the nooks and crannies enough to guarantee adhesion, or they want $600- $700 for all the prep work.
The one shop that was “reasonable” quoted $400, but they have a body shop pull the bed so they can prep and spray the bed upside down. Not sure how I feel about that one.......

Cheers

If they will pull the bed and spray it upside down for $400 bucks, do it!! Others have said to replace the bed bolts and nuts as they are one time use, so maybe pick up new hardware. I've never heard of the Wurth stuff though, sorry.

I hadn’t heard the one time bolt usage, interesting.

Frankly I’m somewhat skeptical that the bed removal will go smoothly and/or will end up costing $400. It seems to good to be true.

I know for sure the bolts for gen 1's must be replaced, not sure if they changed the type used on the gen2's. Yeah it sounds like too good to be true, lol.

Check the new Raptor 2k urethane Berliner sold at typical box parts stores. Holds up quite well for the cost. And is exponentially better than any diy canned liner I have ever used prior

I've used several Wurth products over the years when restoring old BMW's. They are all (or at least have been) top notch German products. I'm doing something similar when I put my Deavers in the rear. 3M also has some decent undercoating products but not the stuff you find at the auto parts store. See if you have a auto body shop or professional paint dealer in the area that sells retail. Ditzler/PPG also make good stuff.

They also make a stone guard product or "body schultz" that dries hard from what I remember. We used to paint over the top to get the color we wanted.

This seems legit to me: https://www.wurthusa.com/Chemical-P...al-17-5-Fl-Oz-Aerosol-Undercoating/p/88909071

Update, Wurth coating looks great! Not gummy like traditional undercoating and hoses off just fine. Pleased.
