yeah ......I mean if you ran water out a 3" pipe through muffler then out a 3" pipe vs running out a 3" pipe then out 2 - 2 1/2 " pipes the later will empty first, so for sure the all 3" should have more back pressure but you shouldnt see the restriction till you hit peak HP

but it wont, cuz the restriction is still going to be in the exact same position before the muffler and limiting the flow there. its going to be comming out the cat at the same volume. opening it up slightly at the end, will not impact how fast or slow its making it to the cat and comming out thru the cat. thats where more of your back pressure is going to be built. if you were removing the cats and adding in different headers and really opening up everything, then you might be right. but keeping the stock manifolds and cat, wether or not your opening things up at the very end, will have very little impact on the rest.

It's more of a static friction short pipe less so the longer the pipe the bigger you want the second half.
So we agree hp it will be ok if any thing better off the line top end will suffer hp.
But at the same time mpg will suffer but probably have to go on years to see a big difference.
So put on a cut out and your good to go haha start out shut and open it 2nd gear.

OK So we decided to put it on, We used the stock Resonator section (as thats the the section of pipe that the flange was too small on in the "kit") , bolted it to the rest of the flowmaster kit, Its not that much louder just deeper tone. didnt go on the freeway just up to about 55 no drone, pretty much as loud as stock inside the truck as well....Its super windy and cold out with wind gusts so its not a good day to hear it very well.

Been getting like 14.5 mpg with mixed use driving so it will be interesting to see if that changes at all.

thanks again for all the input , Tina :)

Soon as the wind dies down and I figure out how to post a video on here I will.

We used to run a cutout on a Buick T-type we had.....that was back in the day before electric ones had to uncork them by hand.....fun fun :)

Our friend has a cutout on his vette and when he does a freeway driveby past you it makes you cry its so loud!....lol

ok so heres 2 video sound clips, sorry if they are shaky was by myself and quality its just my I-phone 5 :-/
sounds too close to stock and We called flowmaster and they said this setup is only good to 400 hp at most so we will be buying the correct sized exhaust as It bugs me to know its not getting its full potential.

Tina :)
