Yes they did skimp on the Gen1... You could get the same exact 6.2 engine in a 2014 XLT and above trim level.
The HO Ecoboost is exclusive to the Gen2 Raptor.

6.2+3.5=9.7÷Gen2 =4.85
× Raptornomics = 4.8
