I have an issue that some may relate to. I have an 05 Hummer H2 that I used to be my DD. Well that came to an abrupt end when I purchased my Raptor back in 2019. As much as I try to alternate to go back to my Hummer for driving to work it leaves a lot to be desired thus having withdrawal symptoms for the Raptor.

On a more serious note I have the dreaded cam phaser rattle and realize that the Raptor is going to require an extended service visit. The problem I am running into is that I have talked to a service advisor at 2 dealerships and they tell me that I it would take about a week to get the truck looked at and then depending on what parts are needed another 2 to 3 weeks for ordering and scheduling the install. What really ticks me off is that they tell me that other customers vehicles have been in the shop 2 weeks or more waiting for the repair and of course would take priority.

In other words leave your vehicle at dealership for 2 to 3 weeks without a rental. Is there an easier way to get around this issue as I find it unreasonable to have to go that long without any transportation offered.

Buy the Extended Service Plan (ESP) and it covers rentals while your truck is in the service department. It's probably the best thing about the ESP prior to the coverage kicking in.

I mean I get that it’s inconvenient and probably not ideal but renting a car isn’t all that hard if you’re in a pinch. They should do it for you, so if you’re within the warranty go get a car and call Ford customer service with the bill.

Well it looks like I have a couple of options option from all the great feedback I am getting here. Call Svc advisor and ask him what specific day that I can bring vehicle in for a diagnosis even if I have to leave it overnight and then have then call me when they get the parts and drop off vehicle but request they provide me a loaner.
Or invest in the ford ESP from Flood so that I would have a loaner available whenever I drop vehicle for any service. I have been seriously considering buying the ESP as a peace of mind anyway.

Thanks for all the input.
Long story short I had made an appointment through a service rep for the cam phaser and some other minor issues. She scheduled the appt 2 weeks out so that they would have a heads up on what the vehicle was coming in for.
So on the day of my appt I took vehicle in and svc advisor had no clue as to what the vehicle was being brought in for other than I had an appointment. He stated that because they are so backed up that it would take at least 2 days before they could even diagnose the issue. Furthermore it wouldn’t be fair to those that their vehicles have been waiting in the shop for engine repairs. This is when he told me that they were only required to supply a loaner if vehicle is inoperable.

I get that other vehicles were in front of me for engine issues but holy cow that would be unacceptable to me if they have been waiting 2 to 3 weeks for a repair without a loaner.

Hate this.... Why even have a section in the scheduling app to tell them why you are bringing it in. Same thing happened to me on several occasions for various issues / maintenance.
My wife has a Mercedes... completely different experience as you might expect. They actually know why you are there when you pull in, and the loaner is waiting for you.

It has nothing to do with being “American”. You’re comparing luxury brands to a mainstream brand. That is not a valid comparison.

Try comparing apples with apples. Lincoln provides the same level of customer service as Mercedes and BMW that you mention. Lincoln even offers free pickup and delivery for maintenance along with a Lincoln loaner that they drop off for you.

My ford dealer is also the lincoln dealer. Same with my other car, the Cadillac dealer is also the GMC dealer. Same building, same people. Same owners.

It takes the tech 10 minutes to diagnose. They likely will want it overnight, or want it early so they can let it get cold and then test it, and then you go pick it back up (that's what I did). They gave me a ride to my office, and sent a Lyft for me once they diagnosed it. Waited for parts to come in, dropped it off, got an Enterprise loaner, truck was done in a few days. I've since had major HPFP issues due to a cam issue. It took weeks to fix, they came and got the truck (and me) and had another enterprise loaner for me until it was done. Your dealer is full of shit. I'd call them back and suggest that sequence, if they bitch then I'd call Ford customer service and call the GM of the dealer. Let him know you're active on the forum and will happily leave a negative review all over the place. I'm not sure why, but the SA was super thankful that I left great reviews when I got follow up emails and such. I think Ford watches that stuff a lot more now. This is a highly competitive market, and BS like this doesn't help your dealer. If they're not doing what Ford puts out as guidelines, they could be at risk of losing their dealership. The big boys (like a good friend of mine who's family owns 56 locations) are always pressuring Ford to sell them a dealer spot at an under-performing location with poor sales and service. There are some teeth to providing ****** service with Ford's name on it now.

Which dealer? Alvarez Lincoln was in Riverside, but they sold out to become a Jag/Land Rover franchise a few years back.

I take mine to the Lincoln dealership because Peoria Ford is a giant POS. The Lincoln dealer scheduled a time for me and I got my truck looked at and called me back within 2 hours. It was for an oil pan leak not cam phasers though. But at least they actually fixed it. Unlike the Ford dealer whoose attempt failed.
